It did good enough to make sure WSJ will always be Togashi's b!tch.
@J. Reezy Togashi has come a long way from Hakusho, HxH really is his best work.

So should I watch the TV series then the OVAs or skip the TV series altogether?

Skip the tv series altogether. The OVAs' animation are better. The action and violence is
much more intense and the real villains are introduced in the OVA's.
The series can almost be considered separate from the OVA's except for
introducing the main characters. If you even slightly enjoyed the series (if you decide to watch it) you will be blown away with the OVAs

My brother actually got me to watch the first 2 OVA's and he says that it's better to just not watch the series. The OVA's are good tbh, but idk about the actual show.

The OVA's are better, A LOT better in fact, but if you want to experience a complete story from start to finish, watch the TV series.
In my opinion, you should watch both, the OVA's and the series. Might start with the series first, then watch the OVA's (save the best for last!).

I can't control my laughter. Oh wow, Kubo did go WAY above his usual sh!t this week. Normal people would have to spend YEARS training to be half as sh!tty as Kubo was with this chapter.

Really dissatisfied with this. I'm usually not so much of an OP maniac that any given decision by Oda would be enough to stir up anything particularly strong in me, but... this is bad. Ugh.
It's true that thus far, Zoro has always used non-lethal, non-blade-based techniques to take out female opponents (headcrush; back of sword; etc.), so why should this come as a shock? The problem is that Monet is the first legitimately powerful woman Zoro has come up against (maybe not really a threat to him in the end, but clearly capable of doing some damage to others). The ladies at Whiskey Peak were so weak as to practically be comic relief, so up until now it's not as if we could have definitively concluded that Zoro is unwilling to cut women. I, anyway, would have held out hope that he'd be willing to when it came to someone as significant as a logia-type arc mini-boss.
The fact is, Tashigi had to be the one to deal the damaging blow, and that trivializes her (especially considering that she couldn't have won the fight alone). It's like, "Here you go. The big man set up the kill for you, but he was too good to do it himself." Additionally, although it's obviously not Oda's intention, given that he is clearly a strong believer in traditional gender roles, this makes Zoro look pathetic as hell. Oh, really, would he have taken down Monet if it came down to the wire? "Every beast will bite a person eventually, if it has to" or whatever that bullsh!t is? Take the stupidly-thin veiling away from that, and you've got, "I don't want to slap a b!tch, but if she gets out of line, then I will." Finally, Monet, after all her hype as this incredibly clever schemer/researcher/tactician and a terrifyingly overwhelmingly logia ability user, is trivialized down to the dirt. A legitimate threat? Not even as much as Zoro's pathetic FI opponent. All it took was a stare-down to give her the vapors. Welcome to the New World!
So now two of the Monster Trio are chivalrous morons.
Thank god at least Luffy is asexual, although given that Oda is control, it's not as if he'll ever actually strike a "pretty" woman in a non-comical way.
I realize this is a rant, and it's intended to be. I'm really feeling pretty disgusted by Oda, because I feel like we've come to expect slightly better from him.

When Oda decides to put a serious tone in Sanji's character he instantly becomes my favorite character in the manga. When he does the protecting it isn't to inflate his huge ego, it's sincere, and isn't really limited to either gender.
PS. This might change if the writer decides to give Him a katana. Oda's characters instantly turn into a**holes when they get one it seems.

Of course Zoro is a moron, half of the crew are morons that's canon!Mystic dream wrote...
I've always thought of Zoro as a moron. Moreso now, after this chapter. Sanji I actually quite like, since even though he's portrayed as the cliche comedy relief perv, he has his fair share of badassness and doesn't look down on women (As far as i remember there hasn't been anything to suggest that).

But no really Zoro is smart when it comes to things that matter. Like the Usopp stuff at the end of the Enies Lobby arc. It's just... His whole backstory shows what he thinks of women, he thinks of them the same way he thinks of everyone. That's why this chapter was dumb, it was out of character for him.
Sanji's cool traits are getting more and more downplayed though. Now its mostly "F**k you children! Nami talks affectionately to you, and not me!" or "F**k off marines! I only want girls to thank me!" and making goofy faces around women, going mental when wadatsumi inderectly makes Nami trip...it's just all PERV Sanji, all the time, compared to the guy who would point a gun at Robin, tell Nami to be quiet and stand back as Luffy told Vivi some harsh truths, could be Mr. Prince and interact with Vivi at the casino without going "PRIINCESSSSSSS LOVE LOVE LOVE", and so on. Hell, when Vivi is introduced to him as a princess, he just goes "you're lucky you met Sanji; I'll get you to Alabasta safe" and blows a heart shaped smoke ring. Thats it. Current Sanji would have sniffed her hair with his best Komatsuface.
Add to that him constantly ogling Nami's body in this arc, and even planning to take nude photos of it for later. Just, go back and look at Sanji from the first hundreds of chapters from the series. You wouldn't buy that that Sanji would try and get nude photos of Nami against her consent as his private spank material. And yeah, Smoker in Tashigis body was pretty stupid fanservice too, but at least that Smoker just wears unbuttoned clothes, and didn't have any sexual intentions.
The Absalom thing was the worst, it was just so awful because of the context of the fight; Sanji is fighting Absalom, an attempted rapist who molested Robin, assaulted Nami when she was naked in the bath, and now tried forcibly marrying her - one of the absolute worst characters of the series, tailor made to be infinetely hateable for Sanji...and it starts off well. Sanji, full of righteous fury, pounds Absalom into the dirt, until suddenly, fight is now about: "You bastard! I wanted to be the one who could go invisible and sneak into womens baths!" It's just...facing Absalom...after all he's done...Sanji says that. "You're living my dream! Damn you!".
I mean, can you believe a time existed where it was feasible to be a Nami/Sanji shipper? A Sanji/anything shipper? (*Disclaimer: I myself am not a shipper. I just find it illustrative of the, ahem, "evolution" of the character.
It was all in bad taste, in the last few years he really has become a badly written character. So yeah, Zoro is still better when it comes to women.
What do you mean about by "characters who get a katana become a-holes"?
