Funny bunny.
So funny it's true tho. Most giant mecha are, even NGE, though as a deconstruction it blurs some lines similar to HxH. Gurren Lagann is more of a reconstruction that revels in the genre.

Really when I talk about Shounen I mean generic shows that are usually associated with it.
Especially Naruto. Naruto is garbage.
And my patience for Dragon Ball has significantly dropped over the past few years due to it becoming more and more of a Superman knockoff as the retcons keep coming in.

Like G Gundam before it.
Dragon Ball is good.
Naruto is awful.
Dragon Ball is Ok.
But Toriyama seems to have this obsession as of late to **** with Bardocks story. Which was fine before.
It didn't need a Super Saiyan Epilogue. Or retconned to having Bardock literally be Jor-El.
DB Minus is literally just Supermans origin.
Dragon ball was the first manga I ever collected. I had so much fun with that series. It had a lot of heart.
Not really. But I've been to every Collectable and Comic store in Edmonton and a few in Calgary.
Sales are the only thing that are better. Inventory wise. Edmontons alot better.
Inventory sucks so bad in Calgary. Good luck finding anything PMMM related other then maybe a couple of the mangas randomly here and there.
The anime stores in Chinatown all just sell AoT merch and if you don't like that then too bad.
That's why I'm forced to go online for most my nerdy needs.

There barely was a story to Bardock in the manga to begin with.
You can't really f**k with something that is barely a thing.

Oh I tried.
But never had any luck with that. Same with Gurren Lagann and Tiger and Bunny stuff.
But lotta Marvel Legends, DC Collectibles, Figma, and Monster arts stuff to keep me happy.

Just adapt the TV special.

Pretty sure I got some Dragon Ball stored away somewhere. Lots of fun!
I could see Tiger and Bunny being as hard to find merch for IRL as Shin Sekai Yori or Chihayafuru is for me.
I know I've seen some Gurren Lagann stuff kicking around here and there. I've seen DVD's and posters for it at least.
Not exactly. Watched up till episode 16, but it was more or less downhill for me after episode 8. I simply had no interest in the show beyond that point. But yes, it is quite a fun, frantic and 'coming of age' type of a show.
Same here.
Although I did watch more of it.
@Isi
I'm probably going to grab Wild Tiger off Amazon sometime soon anyway.
And maybe Saber too...
The Bardock special is a non-canon anime thing that I really think only people here in the west care about.
Goku was a great protagonist too, which I think would be lost on a lot of people nowadays since that type of character has been overdone and copied so much now.
At the time though he was really unique.
He still has one of my favorite comebacks in DBZ too when he's talking to Frieza and Frieza keeps calling him a monkey and getting upset at him and he goes something like "I don't understand why you keep using such primitive insults. But I guess that's all you have left to throw at me since your punches are no longer strong enough to hurt me" simple and yet incredibly effective against such a smug opponent. He defeated Frieza in every possible sense. He took a being that was considered the most powerful in their galaxy and he doesn't just beat him in a fight, he utterly crushed Friezas ego, especially when he refused to finish the fight... he basically told Frieza he was someone not even worth killing, and the beautiful part was it broke Frieza so much that he goes into a rage and literally ends up beating himself with one of his own attacks. Rather fitting I felt.
It was alot better than DB Minus.
Honestly DBZ got too ridiculous.
The worst thing is the 2007 special where characters with Frieza levels are only able to fight little kids.
That's how you know things got out of hand with Dragon Ball.
Still has nothing to do with Toriyama.

That and Goku was just done. lol
I would get board of fighting space Hitler too.

Suddenly remembered my time with the first Budokai and the track "A Hero's Desperation", also playing in the clip above. Loved that.
Dragon ball is like the anime equivalent of Half life. It was amazing when it first came out so everyone took ideas off it and even did bits of it better. Now trying to go back to it is near impossible.
Does Black Mesa mean best English dub?

I remember playing that when I was 11 or so years old and hearing Goku say that was definitely one of the high points from that game.
That seems appropriate.
