Man Steins gate was an excellent show. One of the few shows that has made me consistently laugh. Great cast of characters and well executed emotional moments. One of my favorite anime's to date.

I can.

Whether the circumstances or the reasons were stupid or not, a fellow human being(a kid even) still died. Laughing or joking about that is just horrible.

I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately, I find it easy to find the humor in something the farthest from home it is. That's just me though. I can't speak for anyone else here. I laughed, but I'm definitely not oblivious to the sadness of the situation.

Well the thing is that no one is laughing at the boy who died. At least I really hope not. The thing people are finding humor in is the seemingly unimaginable reasoning behing his action. The loss of a life is never funny, especially of a kid, and ESPECIALLY if it's suicide. But for someone to do something like that for that reason is so insane that it seems unreal, and therefore to some, humorous. I don't think anyone here honestly believes that anyone else here is laughing at a dead boy.

Yeah that. I said something similar to another person that asked me about it. I'm really laughing at the circumstances that led to this unfortunate situation, not the situation itself.

Really well said, Ghost.

Though I'd add it's a bit iffy to talk about another matter than the boy's death and the more important reasons for it - this other matter being thoughts that "anime can kill people" or "some absolutely fictional and far-fetched show touches people in places it shouldn't :P" - but all this is plenty understandable.

The iffyness about it is a real tough one though - are people at fault for addressing some secondary notion to the news rather than the news itself or the more intense meaning of loss behind it.

Laughter is also good from a psychological perspective. People who laugh things off, moreso the stuff that really hurts are people who get less depressed.

*here's to hoping that my post-party-night rant will be even half-way understandable*

The Kenichi anime is really good, however it ends at the first arc of a ongoing story.

It's like if the One piece anime ended at the Arlong park arc, you would have a good grasps of the characters but no understanding of the true story of the series.

The Kenichi manga is great, however some of the arcs are slow, and just like with Bleach there are to many characters and not enough time for character development.

Yeah, the show really is good. The only gripe I have is that Kenichi uses this annoying whiny voice almost every episode, but that's because it's Funimation. I'm not sure if the sub is any different. The show has some awesome characters, but as soultaker said, the show continually adds more and more. I guess that's just a reality when it comes to shonen shows.

Really you are overthinking the series, It stop being about battling your personal demons when the SS arc happened.

See, that's hte kind of mentality I approach NGE with.

Rule no1 of writing a series:

- the longer the series goes on, the more qualtiy will degrade. Basic principles of Entropy, repetivness and bad ideas worming in.

That's because it's not a spoon.

It's called a shamoji.

Most good long series will have ups and downs with quality as you go along. Dragon Ball had the meh Cell arc, but the very next arc was the Boo arc and that was great. One Piece had the Fishiman Island arc and that was kind of crappy, but the new arc? It's great. Then you got JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and it's full of ups and downs.

And then you have a long series like Berserk that is top quality like, all the time.

What I am trying say is that you should never listen to anything Soronnar says about writing. In fact not listening to Soronnar is the actual rule number 1 of writing.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..

Seriously.
The longer a seires goes on, the more bad ideas or re-hashed ideas get thrown in. Former fans become writers.
The series becomes stale.
Unless of course you're new to the series OR your a fanboy who handwaves every bad episode from his mind in one way or another.
All good things must come to an end.

Insted they should defer to you, the King of Poor Taste? :P

Well, it did come to an end.  Right at the end of one of it's best arcs.

No fan ever wrote for Dragon Ball. And yeah Hanar is right, it ended on one of it's best arcs, the gags were great and original.

Oh and almost everything I like is good, you really think I have poor taste?

I actually agree that the Majin Buu series in DBZ was one of the best. If only the ending wasn't so silly with the introduction of Uub it would have been even better.
