I watched an episode of power rangers a few years back and it was like 15 minutes of the episode was them jumping away from explosions. I'm not even kidding.

About a third through Shiki and after the slow first 3 episodes it's gotten rather good. Quite liking the soundtrack, it got the eery feeling completely covered. Been an awfully long time since I last watched any show that had horror elements in it. About time!

 

Also going to go through the Garden of Sinners movies, will try to watch one movie each night

Done with Watamote aswell and it was a hard show to watch because Kuroki is taking awkward and making it almost into an art form. She do so many awkward and at times amusing things and stuff in general don't work out for her. The main draw for me was to keep seeing what silly and awkward try to be popular would be and she try so many things that she at least deserve a gold star for trying and towards the end of the season she "kinda" do get something like that.

 

(Sorry for the long rant, this is probably the most passionate you'll ever see me get about a show)

 

You should check out the manga if you liked WataMote, she's currently in her 3rd year in the Manga. I'm hoping that since the Manga sells well and since the anime had a good overall reception (despite poor sales) that we will get 2 more seasons to finish off the anime. The manga has a few differences, for example: in the anime she has an umbrella that gets torn up, but in the manga she doesn't even have an umbrella with her when it starts raining.

 

It was interesting how the OVA broke the fourth wall at the beginning and Kuroki starts stating that things need to be done differently (She says that Yu should go lesbian) to boost sales. The fact that the OVA came out in October of 2014 and that the creators are aware that it didn't sell well, but that there is a demand for the series provides me with a sliver of optimism that we will get a second season.

 

 

 

 

Tomoko is a character that I've been able to relate far more than any other fictional character out of any medium that I've ever seen or read, so that has made the anime very personal to me and that's why I love it so much. I'd even go as far as saying that it's my favorite anime. I felt so invested in it, because I too have social anxiety. I have a very difficult time talking to people in person, if I were to meet anyone in this thread in person, I wouldn't even be able to strike up a conversation, the best I can do is say "Hi" or some variant thereof and give short responses. Of course, that made it to where I didn't have many friends, I feel that I have 3 (whether I really could or not is another matter) that I could truly rely on. So yeah, I'm super biased towards WataMote, but I'd say reasonably so.

 

As for WataMote being to the point of painful at times: I'm not even sure if WataMote is supposed to be humorous or not, It's debatable. I've seen people post that the anime is super depressing and cruel, others (like myself) have found it to be funny. I think the fact that there can be such a strong debate just lends credence to how artistically done the anime and manga is, but again, I'm super biased. 

 

I really loved the voice acting (especially Tomoko's) and the art style.

 

The opening theme was a miss (I get that it's dealing with her awkwardness and anxiety, but I still didn't like the music), but the ending theme is a massive hit with me.  

 

WataMote gets a 10 out of 10 from me. 

 

I can't wait to see how the manga ends!

Indeed, Watamote is just that kind of show that will have a large variety of reactions from the viewers depending on themself and their situation. That will lead to the viewer focusing more on some aspect than others and as I've read on a few places it can almost be hard to believe that people have watched the same show if one would go by soly their reactions. I'd love to see more seasons from it if only for the one reason to see how well the rest of the content can be animated and perhaps help a few people out.

It could be foreshadowing something for Tomoko, but it wasn't entirely clear.

Looks like an interesting show. Though doubt it would appeal to me, especially since I can't relate to the protagonist at all and is just way too awkward for me. Though might give it a shot somewhere in the future.
