I didn't mean the Batman & Robin movie
I meant the chemistry.
But Yang isn't broody at all!
He's my "yare yare" man :-(
@Sim
Good to hear.
Isn't Kingdom a fictionalized tale on the Warring States period in China? I recall reading something like that. That should offer quite intriguing aspects for sure (depending on what its primary focus is of course).
Yeah it is.
Focus, huh?
Well... think of it as ASOIAF set in China... but a shounen. So you will get extraordinary characters with unbelievable willpower and strength just you normally would with Shounen.
Shin, the protagonist, is 13 years old and kicking ass left right and centre.
But it doesn't really bother you if you know you're heading into a shounen/seinen blend.
It's currently on 400+ chapters and I'm only on 80, but I can say that all the main cast are fleshed out and well written. You'll especially like Sei (or whatever the other translations call him since he's had about 10 different names xD) one of the royal family. I can't say you'll like Shin since he's really hot headed and the damned DPS kill steal of the group. I'm looking forward to his development though, I hope he goes through a lot since his dream is being "the greatest general in China." The manga is already pushing him to change, so that's good.
If you want an idea on what level the political side is on I'd say it's just a bit less than ASOIAF. However, I'm still on 80, so that might change. But so far it's been a coup and now it's a war. I say a bit less since it's all power struggles (like ASOIAF) but lacks the intrigue and conspiracies of the books. It's also ignoring stuff like economics and administration... but like I said, on 80, and so far it's been a freaking blast to read through. It's the kind of shounen I've always wanted to read but never found.

Don't insult Muller.
Muller is the best Admiral behind Mittermeyer and Reuntal.
He's also a Secret Agent.

Pretty much as any other shounen tackles it. Everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do, but it's not the point where you'd say "man, this is some deep sh*t."
Howeverrrrrrr....
There's this one conversation with the main protagonist which was really cool, and it pretty much pointed out the naivety of Shin. Right now, all he wants to be is "the greatest general in China." It's pretty much it, and until that conversation, he never realised as what it means to be that.
It brings forward the methodical general and the "instinctive" one then contrasts and compares (i,e Bittenfield vs Reinhard situation xD) The dichotomy is pretty ridiculous but it does give a dilemma for Shin to overcome. Which does he want to be? What qualities does he need to be the greatest?
I suppose he'll conclude with "both" but it's still nice for the manga to do this sort of thing instead of having one clean line of development.
Personally I believe that character development should be a mess. As in, if you picture it like a line graph, the entire thing should be filled with ups and downs but always going forward.
Sei's reason to be a great ruler has just come up, it was a very nice background arc that pretty much made it clear as why he has the resolve to do what he does.
Buuuuuuuut.
If you want a manga that tackles ideals and goes a LOT deeper into character development...
Then Vinland Saga is the one for you.
It's also shorter (but it's still ongoing.)
That manga is probably second or third in my top manga list with Berserk at the top.
How very theatrical of you. Could have fooled me, hadn't Sim been online on Steam on regular occasitions during these past few days and not letting his dearest bro know about his whereabouts just sounded absurd.
Well show or not, seeing you in anguish is always entertaining, dearie.
Glad that the drama classes at least got some use, if only to entertain those less fortunate in this cruel world. As always in my eternal grace I'm willing to brighten peoples day and spread joy to all corners of the world.

Muller is the one admiral I'd always want with me because if stuff go BAAAAAD he's the one that will be pulling your bum out of the fire

@Sim
Well I'm convinced. Sounds like it has enough aspects to entertain me just fine.
@Rah
Admittedly, everyone here possesses a level of schadenfreude.
Great. Hopefully you'll like it as much as I am right now.
Btw, I know it won't bother you since you like One Piece and all and have a pretty open mind to this stuff.
But here's what I mean by "shounen elements."

Stuff like that and sh*t.
Guest_simfamUP_*
Eh, well it depends. Mostly it has to due with how "grounded" the story tries to be, and having 'supernatural' elements might be a tad bit bothersome. Vagaband for example suffered from it here and there, like that one ninja dude who escaped from a gang by jumping through the trees made me go all "lol wuuuut?".
But it comes down to what the show tries to be, and introducing aspects later on which wasn't in the beginning, more often than not tends to annoy me.
Nah, it's clearly got shounen stuff from the start.
Like two kids having 1000 bouts of sparring and the whole 'dreams' thingy and stuff.
Kind of like Gatts is super f*cking strong from the start and it doesn't pull anything stupid near the end.
Basically... it's consistent. One Piece is always One Piece, it never tries to be anything else.
Same with here.
I'm having a Riza Hawkeye kind of day.

Five times.
But I'm obviously gonna watch it again.
Love me some FMAB.

So far I have only rewatched Cowboy Bebop and my yearly DBZ Kai (but thats mostly for nostalgic reasons). But I'm planning to rewatch Spice & Wolf eventually.

I re watch a lot of stuff.
Like LOTGH.
Re watching it now.
I have 10 episodes left to THAT episode.
But Kingdom has me by the balls atm, so I can delay THAT episode for now.
Which is a good thing for me.
Hell, I might even re watch Gintama one day.
Only done Spice and Wolf twice.
The most I've done before FMAB is AoT which I've watched four times.
Guest_simfamUP_*
And yet you can't even spare FMA (original) 1 watch
which is shorter I might add
That's because I have absurdly stupid reasons as to why I don't want to watch it.
I will some day though.

It's getting there. Don't you worry.
I'll be glorifying Sakura's saliva soon enough.

You can have the wormgirl.
Sakura is open to threesomes.
Therefore she is the best girl.
And she brings her even hotter best friend too.
