Fascinating. I was never aware of the fact that the games were that profound on such aspects. Simply presumed they were about demons and fun characters, in all its simplification. Well that's preconceived assumption on my part.

Good, then I'll make sure to get into this franchise at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later. Persona 3 would be a good starting point, no?

Yep. That's where I started. You can get persona 3 FES on the PS3 or Persona 3 portable on the Vita.

So just by saying "Persona" I can summon you?

That's great.

Hah, nah -- Persona is a word that originates from latin -- It's derived from the Greek "proposon" which at the time meant 'character' as in a play, one puts on a mask to become a character; It became apparent, when it was discovered that different individuals could assume the same role, and attributes like rights, power and duties could play off on that role all the same. This is why masks have mostly always been associated with court play or theater. Although the term itself is apparent to most, it's meaning has been interpreted differently in literature as well -- Poets like Eliot referred to it as an "alter-ego" where one could escape from the modern aspects of life, which he/she found distasteful or unpleasant. You know, like we do the social groups we talk with every day. We all wear different masks.

Yes. Chewin, buy a vita and buy Persona 4 Golden.

Its a purchase you won't regret.

I had planned on investing on the new 3DS (mainly due to Fire Emlem), so I think I'll get them on PS3 instead, since I noticed they are available on PSN.

Since you're so silly I'll say yes to Persona 3 being a good place to start. Then when you hopefully have become less silly you can move onwards to the other titles

I'll make sure to do that then.

Who wants to bet silly Chewin kills him?

I bet he will!

Sim, not you too!

I would suggest getting a Vita eventually since Golden is a improvement on the original.

Poor Chewin.

So many waifus

No time to enjoy them

(Holo, F/SN, Motoko, Persona etc...)

I see Chewin as a Mitsuru senpai person.

P3p_art24.jpg

One can never have too many waifu's.

Indeed, and to add further, has found a variety of usages in music, economy and computer programming as well (with different meanings to the term).

I see. Might do that if I found a Vita for me would be a good long term investment on my part.

Don't worry, Sim -- Persona 4 Golden has Mr Edogawa's TV Classroom (Did you watch that one, already?) it gives you the basics to understand the subject matter that lies beneath the games in regards to Jung. :)

Anyway, anime & manga, sorry!

Durarara!!x2 is looking up rather nicely, let me tell you. The sub is quite okay too, still prefer the dub actors.

I hear you can also play Vita games with the Playstation TV if you have a PS3. So there's that too.

Can I safely watch that without Persona 4 spoilers?

Yes, hence why it would be quite tempting to get one. Depends on if there are enough games on the Vita that would get my attention. Though I don't see that as much of a hindrance, to be honest.

I'd say get the PSTV.

That's what I'm gonna do.

Since you have a selection of other games aside from Vita on that one.

Plus, since everybody and their Koromarus say get P4 Golden, there's really no point in just for the vanilla game.

P3FES was definitely an experience. You can get that on the PSN. Loved every second of it and the ending was really good.

Spoiler

P.S PE3 has the only cool Shinji I've ever seen in Japanese media.

Because Shinji is just awesome.

In retrospect, buying the Vita gives you access to all the Persona games thus far -- The PSP version of Persona 3, for instance, it's got a lot of content that FES don't have (like the female protagonist who is considered to be a much stronger protagonist than the male by most of the P-fans on BSN at least) and it's got some upgrades in terms of gameplay and other good stuff.. Although, FES is the best way to go for a newcomer in terms of story.. because of the limitations that the PSP carried at the time, the story representation got cut down, where the 3D environment is derived solely to the dungeon crawling and there aren't any interacting 3D models during the story sections. Some of the guys here didn't seem to mind that but I know that a lot of people would recommend to the contrary, me included.. But I'm just laying out your options for you, if anything. There are a few good PSP games one can play with the Vita, along with some PSONE classics (should that interest you).

Anyway, sorry for bringing Persona discussion into this thread but I thought I should at least point this out for you. Fire Emblem Awakening is also an excellent game that I'm loving so the 3DS wouldn't be a bad call either.

Yeah.

PE3FES is on the PSN.

Stupid sexy P4Golden isn't though.

It has to be a pretty good game for me to spend over a hundred quid to get it.

Tell me about it. Bought my Vita specifically for Golden.

It was worth it in the end :3
