Well... I had the same issue with One Piece really, since the earlier chapters are from like, 17 years old, it's pretty hard to find good scans.
Berserk is over 20 years old, so no wonder you'll find bad scans like that.

They are.. overly "evil" to be interesting. A bit too much of the "I'm bad so I can only do bad things" unlike the Jaegers that could do both good and less good things. That and the Wild Hunt don't have Kurome or Esdeath.

It's easy to like parts of the characters in Jaeger and perhaps even an entire character. There was really only one character that I wanted to die in a most painful manner. The rest are either really cool or at least solid enough to still contribute

You know, I've seen all these points about innuendo and stuff like that but nothing in the series (that I recall) was explicitly sexual or bizzare in any particular surprising way. I never thought it was really "messed up," beyond just being a mecha set in an extreme period of time.
It's not my favorite anime ever but it's one of the more entertaining ones by far for me, if you limit yourself to anime there aren't many at all that summon similar levels of epic. There are ones that were a lot more consistent, but I don't mind ones that kind of make stuff up in the spirit of entertainment, in fact I'd think that's kind of the point..

Well I hope its gets more exposure, cause while Griffith is a good character for sure, nothing about him strikes me as impressive as all the other characters like to view him. Most of his actions and feats thus far are quite rudimentary, and he is mostly viewed in such high esteem simply b/c he is "different" from the rest.
Also, that is one awesome soundtrack!

Since all the talk about Berserk has been going on, I'm finally hunkering down and trying to sort through what's an actual worthwhile translation (might just end up trying to find the official Dark Horse ones) since I promised Isi ages ago I would start it so that we could pjoasfoahfhwiha about it.

And yes. Once you play Zero Escape you feel like you are part of a secret elite society of gamers. For me it has the single best story I've ever experienced in games. Gameplay wise it's a puzzle game, it traps you in rooms and you're required to find the way out. After you escape a room you're given choices as to where you want to go next (diverging paths sort of game) which can drastically change the story. It's a visual novel meaning you'll get just as much story/dialogue (and often more) then gameplay. The story is perfect if you like mind benders and theoretical sciences in general. It also has a large cast of extremely well fleshed out characters.
Finally the translation was amazing. All the VA was top notch, and they got creative dealing with some of the typical language barrier issues that'd come up here. There's only one part in the entire series where it has an issue and it's admittedly unavoidable so I'm willing to give them a pass on it.
If you do ever go through it try not to read up on it beforehand. Trust me when I say this is a game where it's best to go into it fresh not knowing what to expect.
I'm playing it now and it's pretty good so far. Try not not to get stuck in the first room like I did. I don't think you're that thick though.
