True the gore factore isn't 1/1000 that of Berserk but there is a lot of death in it.

 

Nearly every city gets destroyed before the end, and not to mention a whole world. Then you get the dark mages and such..

 

Ultimately FF10 is actually darker though, much more then it appears. FF10 can pretty much be called the cycle of death despite the fact the tone appears much lighter.

I think that was cut out out of the show? I don't remember it being in the TV series proper, or maybe it was in End of Evangelion? There isn't anything like that though otherwise.. pretty sure...

 

Honestly Dragon Age has considerably more innuendo and whatever than Evangelion if only by virtue of all the graphic sex scenes. Anyway I certainly didn't regret watching it, it had moments that made it harder to watch all kinds of other anime because of how boring they seem by comparison.

 

They share some similarities.. Like they both have incredibly effeminate male grey antagonists with long whiteish hair

 

but yeah the tone is on completely different levels. Although FF9 could get surprisingly dark and Berserk likes touching on the overly fantastical concepts as well.

 

Bah you got me watching the Alexander versus Bahamut scene now

 

I think I must of re-played FF9 like 6 times, that part was a highlight. Plus Garland showing up in his spaceship. And yes Kuja the um.. androgynous fellow I guess would be the description. You know I think it's pretty clear he's a guy personally but I'm not surprised some people were confused....

Yeah now I can totally see it. I was quite young at the time though and not really familiar with guys that dressed and looked like that.

 

Like even his facial features look like a male, but to an 11 year old who isn't familiar with that sort of look I just didn't really think about it as silly as that probably sounds.

 

I've played through it 3 times myself and I still love the game to death.

Even though I'm mostly getting a good chunk of the chapters set up for my eventual binge, I've already taken to calling Griffith "Stupid beautiful Griffith" (said like Homer's "Stupid sexy Flanders..." bit). X3 In fact, once I got to the point where he is first introduced, I pretty much burst out laughing and told Isi that I now understood why Sim and Chewin were talking about the fact that he's actually male being a !!! kind of thing.

 

I have up to chapter 28 set in my folder though. I find it easier than reading it online but if you don't want to go searching for the "lost" chapter Isi mentioned, Chewin, you can find it here where I'm grabbing the series:
