Thank you Sim!
I'll trade you this one since I can't stop listening to it.
Oh god I really need season 3 of House of Cards. Especially now that I finnished LOTGH.
I won't lie, I shed a few tears at the end.

Oh, you've seen the show as well? Good, then we can gush over it together on Steam once it hits. ![]()

Also, stop opening the wound again with LOGH Ep 82!
This is worse than Gae Bolg!
He's Canadian.
I'm not going anywhere near EVA characters in terms of any thorough analysis or whatever.
All I got from her is that she's a very disturbed character like everyone from EVA is.
Whether she sucks or not... can't say I agree, but there might actually be some psychological mumbo jumbo that I don't know about that supports that.
She does. Like a pro. ![]()

Yeah, what was I thinking?
Pfft!
Decided to catch up on Fairy Tail (manga) after missing like 12 chapters. I'm liking the use of timeskips every time Natsu needs to come back stronger in a hurry. Dude wrecked everybody at the Grand Magic Games to make his triumphant return.
Clothes catch fire. They do not melt. Unless it's latex.
Fire must be the lamest thing in the Fairy Tale universe when everyone is fire-proof.

Taking Fairy Tail even remotely seriously. It's like you want to be a buzzkill

But to be fair, no one actually got lit on fire. That was the heat.
I wonder if Watamote's mangaka is a part time mangaka or something.
First it's monthly (or every two weeks some times) and the art isn't really anything special at all.
Like... even for Slice of Life standards it's pretty much plain as hell.
But ontop of that, every time it's like 14 pages.
So maybe she/he's a part time mangaka and works somewhere else.
I don't know, but I sure am glad that it isn't a ridiculously long wait between each release (I'm looking at you Beserk).
I dislike waiting and I've caught up and read all 72 chapters, so now I get to play the waiting game
Read the spinoff! It's just as good.. Hell sometimes it's even more funny imoI don't know, but I sure am glad that it isn't a ridiculously long wait between each release (I'm looking at you Beserk).

I've properly caffeinated myself so I'm probably going to dig in and get working on more very soon. I'll keep you guys updated since I'm getting closer to the end of this arc.

Dammit Lotion!
That's Saber you're on about!
Lolis no doubt.
One in particular with a typical wizard's hat ![]()

Lotion fails again in his eternal quest in understanding generic shounen.
Stick to seinen, Lotion, it's better for all of us xD

Waiting is what you do for manga.
But at least it's made me a veteran compared to those noobs who "can't wait" for Winds of Winter.
lol
They know nothing of waiting.

The way they are able to pull that off with such seemingly despicable characters is one thing that makes Berserk so intriguing.
Agreed.
But you know what's more intriguing?
The fact that we gamers are so used to saying 'they' that we use it for everything xD
One thing I mentioned a while back is the twist on Griffith and Guts being the typical white and black knights. They both have the qualities you'd expect from those roles such as Griffith being charming, intelligent, coming from humble beginnings, beautiful (you're nickname does really fit quote well) and even child-like. Guts on the other hand is brash, temperamental, often comes off as being unsympathetic, quite physically scarred and comes off as being confrontational. Despite all these qualities they enhabit each one is almost the exact opposite of everything they appear to be, and in many ways the personality traits you'd associate fore each one is actually reversed.
Accurately put, Isi! This in particular is a primary factor I am loving in the series. Just as you put it, they share some striking similarities, but their mentality is where they mostly diverge and especially how society views both characters in terms of appearance.
To add further; Griffith is more the philosopher, while Gatts is more of a down to earth leader and more interested in practical matters, and both of their characterization is attributed in large part to the differences between their upbringing, temperaments as well as what drives them. Griffith is more rational and intellectual of the two, being driven by higher ideals while Gatts in turn is more emotionally driven. Griffith is more motivated by a certain sense of duty, and the quest to find enlightenment (or at least that's the vibe I am currently getting). Gatts however (in the beginning) was motivated by his lust for battle, having only known that kind of life, and while he kept that desire for a long time (even with the Hawks), it did slowly but gradually change his views (which he reflects upon several times). When the Eclipse transpired, his desire took a turn for finding justice, and to uncover the truth behind Griffith's actions.
Caska pretty much serves as the eyes for the reader (and the general viewpoint a lot of characters have within the universe) regarding Griffith and Gatts, and witnessing how it is portrayed in quite a nuanced fashion is something I just love to experience.
I wonder why it's so peaceful considering how well... Gatts' life is anything but peaceful
*insert deep philosophical meaning here*

Well put yourself Chewin! I'd like but apparently I hit my limit today already.. Somehow.. (These like quotas seem to have a mind of their own)
Griffith and Gatts/Guts or w.e you want to call him definitely two sides of the same coin as stated earlier. The duality of it all makes me gush all over since I adore the concept and they pull it off so marvelously.
Right on about Casca too I think. I also feel that Puck is sort of like that as well (something me and Ani were mumbling about yesterday) in that he'll often mirror the emotions of the readers in the story.
Also Ihis facial expressions. They're always appropriate and just the best.
It's hilarious how Puck's dialogue in the first arc amounts to "Guts!" 80% of the time xD
As a device he also serves as a good comedic touch to smooth out the edges. Sometimes when stories are as dark and tragic as Berserk it's hard to get that balance right or sometimes it might just come off as trying too hard.
Though I admit, sometimes Berserk can take it too far.
I think Vagabond is really the only manga in the seinen category that has balanced humour and drama perfectly.
I laughed quite a bit in Vagabond despite it being a very serious story.

Even Tolkien took from old Norse stories.
Doesn't mean that we geniuses in broship can't steal stuff either!
I pretty much feel the exact same regarding Puck as of now. X3 It's actually kind of amusing to me because even with his goofy reaction shots and adorably derpy personality, it doesn't feel jarring right now, compared against the darker tone of what's happening around him. I guess that's what makes it a very good thing the little guy didn't show up til post Eclipse. Now when he gets emotional? Yeah, the elves' empathetic link is something I think I'm going to talk about a lot if the series goes into it proper. One thing Isi and I discussed last night that I completely forgot to mention was the fact that I very much adore the fact that the series handles facial expressions being telling (especially the eyes) to what someone is really feeling. I have a soft spot for situations where either words and facial features don't necessarily match (with the latter telling the true emotions felt) or when words aren't even used, and we're made to use the expressions to gauge what's being felt.
Remember when I said I was going to wait til after I finished the prologue to hurdur and wall of text?
Yeah we can thank Guardians of Desire 3 for getting me not to shut up.
