Yeah pretty much this. Unless LOTGH has lasers (i'm assuming it doesn't) guns would be mostly useless.

Not to mention in LotGH most ships will have a gas(forget what's called, sim would know) inside for defense so intruders can't use guns. So yeah, when boarding a foes ship, using guns is just asking to get killed.
