"But enough about good mangaka, Let us look at what an a-hole Egawa Tatsuya is."

Hahaha... You made my day with this comment! (it wasn't much of a day really^_^)

(though you seem to be pretty much right about that guy - I'd say he's either egotrippin' or just a plain troll)

That... is actually rather squick if you interpret it slightly different and completely out of context. I've seen the show though. But man... >_>

Just finished Baccano and the specials. Have to say I enjoyed that show. It's stylish, funny, and well structured.

Yeah, it's an awesome show!
If anybody still hasn't watched it, you should. Lest the rail tracer find you.

The villains weren't interesting, Shirahoshi was a crybaby(Luffy at least made fun of her), an overplayed noseblled gag becoming a legitimate serious thing, and a whole myriad of unresolved plotpoints, misuse of introduced characters like Den and Shirley (who despite being Arlongs sister was just sort of mentioned offhand and not explored at all) and a variety of other little things were problems... but MOSTLY it was pacing issues.

The arc sort of barrelled right ahead without spending time to show off the island casually or introduce the characters in natural way... (the way Oda has in all previous arcs) and the flashback was told INCREDIBLY badly and in disjointed fashion. It was like Oda just wanted to get through the arc as fast as possible and wasn't willing to slow down like he usually does.

It either should have been an arc that was 20-30 chapters longer so it had room to breathe, or it should have been 20 chapters shorter as just a quick fun excursion arc. The length it was it got the worst of both worlds.

Pretty much agree. The only one I can say for sure that I liked was Van der Decken, mostly because he also served as comic relief. I haven't started the new arc yet though. Looking forward to seeing how it is in comparison to this lame arc. I'm betting it's the type of storytelling we're used to by now in One Piece, such as the Water 7/Enies Lobby arc. At least, I'm hoping it is...

I think Zeo was the best villain from the arc, and he gave us a great Brook moment.

Next arc has the great adventure feel that the series normally has.

And it has good side-characters and villains.

I dunno why you're quoting TTGL, 'cause it doesn't look like anyone's discussing it, but I'm glad you did tbh.

I was just listening to "The Sense of Wonder" from the Parallel Works. That video was good enough to make a series about if you ask me. I loved it.

I just started watching it. classic.

I'm glad several of you recommended it. I don't think I would have discovered it otherwise.

I finished FMA: Brotherhood (yeah I know, it takes me forever :P ) Also great, though I do miss the soundtrack from the original. I think that's all I miss from the original. I liked the Brotherhood story much, much better.

The second much is for emphasis, or maybe it's too much?

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is my third favorite series, so I don't object in the slightest. Even though Google Chrome insists that every word in the title is spelled wrong.

Damn blasphemer.

I just can't get into manga. It's not immersive. The animation and voice acting is what makes everything so addicting to me. Plus manga is in black in white. Whazzupwitdat? I hope they animate It's Not My Fault I'm Not Popular, I really do.

Still doesn't mean action or drama scenes play out better on mangas. Nor can you *hear* the emotion put behind everything.

To this day, I have only seen a few anime adaptations that are better than the original manga. I mean, that is the rule of adaptations, 90% of the time the original is better.

I can damn well hear every bit of the emotion put into the writing and art of a manga. I have seen anime adaptations miss and/or f**k up the point of scenes. So you can't tell me they do action and drama scenes better.

And then you have bad filler/pacing...

Read Berserk, read Hunter x Hunter, hell read something simple like One Piece and then hopefully you will understand what I am talking about.
