Looks like the guys got hit with the moe stick a lot more than the girls. The girls look mostly the same apart from Haruhi's crazy eyebrow game being reduced a bit.
I don't really mind, at least they got the same voice actors back.

I think his voice (intonations and such), the animation (facial expressions etc) and just the writing will have as much to do with the personality conveyed than his base appearance. I do kinda see the resemblance, but I think it's more that he just looks more generic? The old Kyon had a sharper face and sharper eyes that kind of befit someone who was always snarking silently about the world around him. This Kyon looks like he could be any anime male protagonist. I get similar vibes to that Trigger anime I couldn't be bothered to watch even though it came after KlK.
Oh yeah, did anyone finish that? Was it worth it?

Given the use of 'moe' now this is the most accurate you can get really.
And sometimes when describing loli you can put the "little girl" part in quotations, because anime does stuff like make someone that looks 16 be over 600 years old and earn a nickname like "self proclaimed 16 year old"
