Yet that doesn't rule out that some people's brains are more oriented on sounds and moving pictures, others get a better grasp of stills.
Like me for instance. I went to a prestigious music school way back. And even though I went there only for the first six grades - meaning elementary and some middle-school - and hated music up until I was through with it (making you practice 4 hours a day won't make you enjoy what you do), it still kept to me. A few years later I recognize that there ain't any better thing for me than sounds and music. That's it.
It could be training, it can be natural talent (most musical hearing, at least in potential, you are born with, a fact). But the fact is I'll always enjoy anime more than manga. Even if Berserk actually is "better" in manga, the enjoyment of anime is of other categories completely (minus the narrative and some art-work).

Not saying you have to like manga more than anime.eroeru wrote...
I can understand what you're talking about (I think I do).

Just saying it is foolish to think manga can't make the same kind of emotional response that an anime can make.
This panel here, from Strongest Man Kurosawa gets a huge emotiional response out of me. And you know what? I don't think the scene would work as well if it was an anime.
Same stuff can be said about anime they turn into manga.
Anyways you know me, manga>anime and all that. Still some anime adaptations are fine, voice actors, music and animtion are great when they get it right.

But I'm at a loss for words when it comes to criticizing (most) manga.

Yeah I guess I can understand that, but still you should try reading more manga than just Bleach. The Mad Hanar wrote...
Maybe I didn't make myself as clear as I should have, I tend to be unclear. I don't feel that manga is a medium that should be ignored nor do I feel that it's a lesser medium than anime. It's just that I don't feel the same connection with the story, action and characters when I'm reading a manga. Since it's divided up in panes, it makes the action feel choppy and stand-aloneish to me. I have the same problem with poetry, since I tend to read one line at a time. The flow isn't there for me, so I tend to enjoy it less. Naturally manga will be the most heartfelt out of the two since it is the original, it just doesn't resonate with me for the reason I mentioned. Plus, the black and white really screws with me, I don't know why.

I heard Holic is really good. I've wanted to check it out since Holic was the first anime I ever really got in to. Would you reccommend it?
I don't have that much against manga, I just don't enjoy it as much as anime. :innocent:

@eroeeu Here if you want to start criticizing manga, start with this panel.

Bleach is just a shadow of what it use to be I'm afraid. I miss the days when Bankai was actually worth a damn.
To be fair, it was only really important during the episodes where Ichigo fought Byakuya.

The text and narrative *is* possibly bad. Can't fully grasp it from a single pane though.
Oh, and the clothes look stylishly drawn as usual (that's a good thing)...

I feel the same way. I tried reading some Berserk manga and had a real issue connecting with it.
This is odd because I love to read, or did at one point anyway. The black and white was hard for me too. Why limit yourself and your art to those two colors? That can *enhance* some stories I guess, but not Berserk.
The right-to-left format was hard to get used to too.
Though, truth be told, without more Berserk in anime form (those damn movies are taking too long to come out) I will go back to it. We'll see then.

Plus his figures suffer from same face syndrome as the two guys in the panel look like Aizen, have severely elongated limbs in contrast to his earlier work, no background for the panel, but the "Heart" panel took it to the extreme. Some Geth wrote...

Togashi did the no-backgrounds text only thing a lot better. You know at the end of the ant arc?The Hierophant wrote...

True i remember, but the difference was that it wasn't some bootleg pseudo faux philosophical statement that was meant to draw emotion for a one dimensional character like Ulqui-blah-blah. Plus Kubo is being lazy when you count the frequency of background in his earlier work in contrast to his current work. Some Geth wrote...
