I could never get into Black Lagoon. The main character pisses me off due to his incompetence.
Is he incompetent? Or is he normal?

Incompetent. If I was thrown into a band of kickass mercenaries. I would learn everything I can from them to become just as competent and deadly as them since it was my decision to stay. He barely has any growth, and when it does happen, it doesn't transfer over to the next episode well.

You have a different objective than Rock. His decision to be a regular joe and not be up to snuff in violent situations is not a reflection of his competency. He has his role.
Legend of the galactic heroes has one of the most unintentionally funniest first episodes ever. Lets see how legendary this series can get

Then he shouldn't have joined the team. He is a weak link which gets squads killed.

Squad? They're not that well-oiled of a machine. Only two people in the Lagoon Company can competently defend themselves amongst the slaughter. Anyway, Rock's not there to be a badass and that works out quite well for the show dynamic.

Not for me it doesn't, but I'll let it drop since I know others here like it.

The first episode? What stupid thing happens there? It may have been different in the remake movie I watched.

"Unintentionally funniest" are the key words there.

Yeah I'm trying to figure out what the unintentionally funny thing is since I don't recall it.

Speaking of noncombatants who don't do anything but drag the team down in the world of Fumbles, I like the theory that Revy gave Benny his hawaiian shirt too, but she doesn't care much for him because he actually wears it.

Lolz. I blame my military up-bringing. /shrug
And...Balalaika is one scary lady.
Based scary lady.
Thanks for all the Birthday wishes everyone! I appreciate it and I had a good birthday. Also sorry for waiting so long to respond to that, I wanted to wait until all of the Birthday wishes were done because I didn't want to end up spamming the thread with a bunch of thank yous. ![]()

Date A Live is a great show and was a lot different than what I expected going in. I was expecting something along the lines of NouCome, but it ended up being quite a bit complex in comparison. The visuals were up to snuff with everything else and so was the voice acting, what really set the show apart for me was the music; it has one of the best opening themes I've ever heard:
I really liked the plot, I found it to be creative and I enjoyed the curveball-esque plot twists that were thrown my way, I absolutely didn't see them coming. The show shifts perfectly from being a comedy to being serious, it got dark when it needed to, but it never crossed over to being dark just for the sake of it. The characters were fairly stereotypical of anime, but likable; Origami even reminded me of one of the characters from NouCome (which is the best point of reference I have to comparing this anime to), looked exactly like her except not flat chested (something none of the girls are in Date A Live).
I'm both excited and anxious about what Season 2 might be like, I'm hoping that it stays true to the show. Truth be told, I found Date A Live to be a really fun and likable show. It purposefully went with the Harem genre and worked it into its plot in a very creative way, I'd actually like to amend my last sentence and say that I found Date A Live to be a fun, likable and creative show. I recommend that anyone who is looking for a fun, yet creative plot based show watches Date A Live.
9 out of 10/4.5 out of 5!
P.S. Kotori is the best girl, not "Clock Girl" ![]()
VV, no, it's either Clock Girl or Folded Paper, those are the only available choices!
Occasionally Storm Left or Storm Right.

Edit: In all seriousness tho Tohka came in at a pretty close second, it's just that I'm pretty sure she'd bankrupt me because of all that food.
Oh you like the split personality Lolly Loli huh?
Oh yeah be sure to watch the OVA. Not the encore one though that's after season 2.

I wouldn't say that she's necessarily split personality

I didn't know that there was an OVA, thank you!
Edit: There coming out with a Date A Live movie by the way.
Yeah I know it was announced at the end of the second season. It's probably going to adapt the Natsumi arc.
There's also the chance it will adapt one of the games or any of the other many, many spin-off material.

In your spoiler free opinion: was season 2 as good as the first? (this is directed at Gravis as well)
One of the reasons why I like sticking to anime that doesn't have two seasons is because there is usually a significant decline in quality during the second season.
I have a somewhat okay feeling about Date A Live having a second season, since they were counting on it because of the fact that Yoshino stated "to be continued in Season 2".

Kinda. It feels like set up for later stuff though with the reveal of may behind the scenes things which I can't tell you because spoilers. It's also significantly shorter due to it only adapting 3 novels. I still enjoyed it a lot though despite this.

I'm pretty sure they will do that later with a bunch of OVA's during the wait for more light novel chapters of the main story. Hell the two OVA's come from one single light novel.
