I never really cared for Vicious. I like Vincent much much more. I'd say the Bebop movie was better than any episode of Bebop
I'm right there with you on preferring Vincent, for sure. Like Chris said, I just think he had a much more interesting dynamic with Spike and such which I guess is kind of amusing considering how tied Spike and Vicious were.
I think I should probably add both the series and the movie to my rewatch list. It's been far too long. :3

For reasons everybody else knows.

Because you don't get to stare at Sayaka and are therefore unable to make perverted observations?
I agree

While doing some occasional writing on Steins Gate I chose to seek out an intriguing anime that caught my eye, originally based on a novel, called Welcome to the N.H.K. It was summarized as a black comedy drama with a psychological edge, which sounded up my alley and my impressions so far are sound.
The protagonist, in the dub being voiced by the awesome Chris Patton, is a subverted iteration of the average male lead in these self-proclaimed "slices of life" dramas. He's a socially anxious loner who's disclosed himself from society, and at first it's hard to pinpoint an exact impression as to the cause of his disposition but it's intriguing nonetheless. It reminds me of a lot protagonists from the transgressive fictional genre of novels, like Tender Branson from Survivor, or the narrator from Fight Club, which is evident enough, considering the anime's lead Säto carries the traits with that of the genre -- He's what is referred to as an "hikikomori, or to be more polite, the NEET (Not pursuing Employment, Education or Training)" in the anime - who live as shut-ins from society, making just enough money to survive, either through work or by living with their parents indefinitely, but otherwise completely isolating themselves from the outside world. It's an apt alternative to that of the transgressive genre's common tropes, associated with its characters; People who feels confined by the norms and expectations of society and seeks to break free of those confines in unusual or illicit ways. As a result of this -- The characters might usually be referred to as nihilistic, anti-social or mentally-ill.
It's more or less what Säto is like, but not so much on the nihilistic side of things -- The anime is more of a downplayed version of the original novel of which it is based, where heavy taboo subjects such as drug usage were entirely left out of the anime, partially because they didn't serve much importance for the story that needed to be told.
The anime is less that, and yet still maintains a strong focus on telling an unusual love story, while discussing the fabrics of the human condition in great detail.
It's a chance meeting, where a potentially ill girl, seeks confinement by helping protagonist Säto to get out of his "hikikomori" way of lifestyle, as a way of fighting her own demons.
I think one of my favorite parts of this anime so far has to be the attenuated allusions brought up in discussion related to Sigmund Freud. The female counterpart, Misaki, tries to utilize therapy sessions as her way of trying to cure Säto, by quoting Freud in regards to his concept of psychoanalysis, where the main character turns the session around with anecdotes that insinuates phallic symbols and images. "There was enormous snake with rock hard scales -- The huge snake rose high and then dove deep into the ocean, and i thrust a long sword into an apple then i fire off a shiny black long barrel shot gun again and again and again."
I LMAO so to say. Sigmund Freud was both a genius and a whacko.
I'm liking this anime.
Couldn't find the dub version but it's still funny regardless.

Oh dear Sim. I already know you're our lolicon wonder. X3 There's actually a joke here regarding Dragon's Dogma and it's references to Berserk with lolgandalf but I'll only explain it if you don't mind vague game spoilers, I laughed for a while and just thought "Man, Sim would be so pleased..."
Also finally sent you a FR Sim. Been meaning to for ages. :3
