Sim: Yar, I can understand that. While I prefer my characters grey and complicated, there are still the black and white sorts that I can enjoy. Actually kind of amusing (to me at least): I've spent around the last week or so pondering it but I can't help be amused by the fact that it feels like I've steadily been groomed to be a fan of Berserk. I mean I've known about it vaguely for the last fifteen years (maybe more, I don't really remember when I first heard about it) but never actually researched it much or knew anything beyond the Eclipse is something that... changed a lot of people as far as storytelling and such goes. Thing is, without knowing what the story contained, I grew steadily along to love grey characters, cosmic horror and situations where I get new information and have to sit down and rethink something that happened previously. Not to mention life experiences helping with understanding on a personal level the points the series makes to show the best and worst humanity as to offer, and how complicated the extreme spectrum of the human heart can be,
What I'm taking five years to say is that much like PMMM or Utena (or PST if we're going to throw games in), I probably could have enjoyed it years ago but with where I am in life right now? It's posed to become a standard I hold other stories to.
I know it's becoming a problem when I'm actually thinking about changing my avatar.
Like I said earlier, I haven't slept much so I hope that little speech made sense.
Yeah, I get what you mean.
Tbh, though, I don't think I particularly cared for either black, white or grey character until a few years ago.
I think it was when I started gaming for narrative back in 2009 that I really started to appreciate these things more.
Yeah, DA:O was really the first "story driven" game I played.
Before then I didn't even know what character development was xD
Grey characters always click with me, even more so if they're darker. Anything that's darker really just goes with me, that's why I love Berserk so much.
It's funny I say that though, because my favourite character in any medium is Yang Wenli. Though 'grey' himself, he's really just a good guy.
And even though I'm indifferent to point of dislike with Jonothan, I like Nausicaa.
But that's because they're completely different but still, Nausicaa can be sort of classed as 'good.'
She's just a really good human being who's trying to do her freaking best in a sh*tty situation.
So yeah... I don't know where that comes from really xD
Oh and yeah Jonathan may not be as cool as the other JoJos.
But I still liked that he was pure goodness.
I mean he forgave Dio.

Who the f**k would do that?
Jonathan Joestar.
That's who.
Probably that d*ckhead Sora from Kingdom Hearts.
God I hate that kid.
Yeah.
That was totally my fault.
