Motherf*cking based Kotomine is so based because of his rivalmance with Shirou

 

Any convo with Kotomine in HF is a treat of pure based dialogue.

 

Okay I'm hyping it up to be masterpiece literature here, but rest assured my hyperbole is 50% because it's good and 50% because of how I just love him on a superficial level too.

 

But if you want real reasons I suppose....

 

Yeah, his role in the narrative is far more than to be "the antagonist" (a la Fate route.) Kotomine's actions and words have a direct impact on Shirou's development. So instead of being a big f*cking troll and laughing at Shirou like in Fate (but tbh, we all do) he pushes him into directions and presents him with the reality of the tough decisions he has to make.

 

So yeah.

 

Awesome dynamic with Shirou is why he's good.

 

But he's based because he's f*cking joggin' and b*tches be hatin' on his smooth-ass legs.

 

Good, which is exactly the role I expected him to play in F/SN. Glad that HF delivers at least.

Another annoyance/example of brass incompetence.

 

Here you have Yang MOTHERF*CKING Wenli, a proven competent commander and they give the plan of their invasion to a ****** nobody knows about.

 

It probably all boils down to jelousy.

 

Everyone in the Alliance Command is afraid of Yang Wenli's potential and they end up just kissing his ass when the heats on them.

Jealousy and precaution. As you are aware, the higher ups within the Alliance feared that a victory by Yang Wenli alone would open a gateway for him to ultimately seize power, especially considering his popularity within society and military. Of course not knowing his character and being blinded by paranoia, lead to their demise in the long run.

 

It's basically a contrast to that of Reinhard in terms of development. Both hindered by superior powers, but one acts and seizes the opportunity to fight back, the other doesn't.
