Was actually surprised he didn't use that name earlier, considering he is more obsessed with lolis than yanderes.
EDIT: But yes, heard that Wolf Children is great. Need to watch it at some point.

So I've heard that the top 3 anime that revolutionized the entire medium were Robotech, Gundam SEED, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Can anyone tell me whether this is correct and why? I can see how NGE could've revolutionized anime, but I'm not sure about the other 2 or whether it's even true.
Dat name tho Yandere.
I figured that there are people in this thread who can pull the Yandere mode better than I can.
But I'm damn good with Lolis so I thought this was more fitting.
Liking this new name of yours more Wimbini , kinda great!
*snip*
Thank you rah.
I also like your name.
I notice they all involve Robots (Via technicality in NGEs case)

LOTGH is better than the three of them.
...
I bet.

Sim resembles Hasegawa really! Ah well, I wanted to tease him.
And.. Liam isn't the sadist one and Gravis is?
I think I don't know you much...
Dammit! Suggest your own lists.
Arian: Lotion.
Lotion: Arian.
I know your secret.
...
Anyway.
Just want to repeat.
So that Puddi-senpai actually notices this.
Leorio is bestgirl in HxH so far

Saw him in the OP and I knew straight away I wanna gonna like him.

I bet.
LotGH is better then all three of them.

LotGH is better then all three of them.
As expected.

Oddly fitting name indeed.
LotGH is better then all three of them.
As it should be.

(But did it revolutionize anime?)
Guest_simfamUP_*
Probably not.
Because nothing like it has come out since.
And probably nothing ever will.
Secretly, somehow, in a way, LOTGH has invented loli'.
I'm not really saying that those are good animes or w/e, I'm just trying to figure out what they did well. I know nothing about Robotech, but I heard that Gundam SEED was the first anime to have a gray plot instead of it being a simple or black and white plot and I heard that NGE brought a lot of philosophy and symbolism to the anime media.

Grav is the Sadist i'm the uh something. I'm bad at pointing out my own traits.

I've heard that all 2 of thouse are horrendously awful so perhaps they were revolutionary and just aged poorly.
Really though, being the first anime to have a "grey" plot is hardly something to boast about. tbh.
I was just asking for clarification because this was something I've heard before. I'm not saying it's a fact or making any claims.
Apparently Eva is like the first billion dollar franchise of the 90s and it revitalized the anime industry in the 90s after Japan's economic crash. It also has a lot of clones.
While I'd never pin myself as a LotGH expert(or even a storylining expert), I will say that there's yet to be an anime I've seen that captured the Political, Tactical, and Personal all in a neat little bow as they had. Generally I hold very little interest in political stories, but I'll admit they tied it very well into the characters' lives, and the consequences of said political decisions can hit them face first. I was surprised when...Probably not. Because nothing like it has come out since.

Eh.
Ergo Proxy did it better imo. But that's because 1) Eva is purposely convoluted. 2) I don't understand psychology because I've never done it. 3) Stupid af here.
Besides, I (personally) prefer when philosophy flows with the narrative rather than it being forced down my throat. The pros and cons of each political system in LOTGH is demonstrated via the characters more than its give a specific episode where Yang Wenli gives ambiguous dialogue as to its ins and outs.
Though Democracy vs Autocracy is hardly subtle in LOTGH xD
So let's say... Ghost in the Shell, 1995 movie. I found it did perfectly fine on its own without having to shove musings down my throat or throw out lines like "I am everywhere and nowhere" (though it probably did.) Even without a fixed understanding on the philosophies Ghost in the Shell handles, a novice can tell understand and learn from what it's trying to say.
Same goes for the series, I'd day.
But even the series suffers from convoluted dialogue and pretentious rhetoric. I think it's a thing with Japanese writing.
As for grey plots?
LOTGH came out in 1988.
Dunno if there's anything before that of that calibre.
Berserk (the manga) came out in 1988 too.
Berserk is obviously a lot darker than most things.
Finished Time of Eve. It was great, I need a new short anime to watch while watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes. So, Detroit Metal City or Ping Pong?
I liked Time of Eve too.
It was nice and sweet.
Never heard of those two.
For people looking for a break of LOTGH I always point them to Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
Can't say if you'll like it or not.
Well, I'm slowly but surely chewing through Gintama I'm on Episode 56. I love how the show and characters go from on extreme to the other in a matter of seconds. In one scene they might be rolling out the laughter and then Boom, out come the feels. Often when I watch a series this long it will start to ware on me ( LotGH, still great though ) but, I have enjoyed every episode of Gintama.
Rarely do you get to see Gin's dark side though so, I'm looking forward to seeing what past events changed him( if it ever covers the subject ). I love Kagura, I swear the crazy shirt that comes out of her mouth is so random and hilarious. I can't wait to start the Gintama movie after episode 58.
PS. Thank you for the heads up on that Sim. Also, which of the 3 Gintama movies did you say to watch?
There's only two.
Benizakura and Yorozuya Forever.
Ep 58-61
Benizakura movie (basically skip those episodes.)
Yorozuya Forever is what wraps up the 265 episode anime.
As for Gin's dark side... you just wait ;-) heheh
Glad you're liking Gintama, it's my 3rd favourite before FMAB and LOTGH.
NGE is a pretty big deal but what did it revolutionize other than give us some Rei expies?
Uhhhhh
Steven Universe?
Get in the f**king Pokéball Shinji Latias.
