It's just so intense and not boring to me, so much crazy stuff, going right into inter-personal relations without any kind of hesitation. It's like a freight train going full speed into your craziest fears, etc.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in Japan. According to Kotaku, Japanese website Charapedia took a poll and compiled a list of the top 20 coolest women in anime. And it doesn't include Furude Goddamn Rika. You done goofed, voters.

Nah, you wouldn't be wrong about that part. The thing is; The Monogatari series is essentially a deconstruction on the whole harem genre, which offers a rather intriguing setup that involves various characters' personal problems being manifested and explored through differentiated confrontations with the occult, with lots of sharp, layered dialogue and impressive visual direction used as an auxiliary to complement the narrative, but the show is still packed with fanservice to the extreme--which offers everything from gratuitous titillation to loli fetishes.
What fascinates me about the show is how it can be so over the top and yet manage to capture fundamental aspects like characters and themes so well, and even deliver on certain parts a lot better than more "serious shows". There is a lot to appreciate once you delve into it, but if you can't get past the "unorthodox aspects" that the series features, one can't judge you for not being able to enjoy the show.

The fetish content feels more or less like a play on the creator's part of trying to be provocative, to make an ironic statement, which is a shared concept about would-be-auteurs and while that's all well and good; I can't say it succeeded. It felt more or less like a Suda51 game, post-Killer7, it badly atttempts to conform some sort of message through bloated dialogue, with a whacky setting. From my perspective, it's story full of lies. It pretends to be something that it’s not. Oh yes, that’s the point of fiction, but for a show that’s carried by dialogue, the characters talk a whole load of nothing. It’s self-aware, but a story that builds itself entirely around being self-referential lacks its own soul. I find this all difficult to reconcile with in my head. So far HxH is good and enjoyable.
But it's nothing special for me apart from the few twists to the genre here and there.
But I'm betting on Puddi's and Geth's good taste that it'll become something special later on.
The most badass and probably the best written female in anime and manga I know is Alita, no one else comes close. She's basically the female version of Guts.
