A few episodes of Gurren Lagann do that, animation quality drops during a episode and bounces right back the next.

Gurren Lagann's animation quality didn't "drop", they handed certain episodes to a different director and he used a different style which looks like crap.

I don't think it has any movie cover.

The fact is Episode 7's animation style is rookie and godawful comparing the rest of the show.
