As it stands, I would still say Dragon Ball is better in Japanese because the voice actors actually fit the characters. That and dubs like Funi's dub f**ked up the writing.

Funimation way back had no clue what they were doing with DBZ (they will tell you the same), and that is why we have Son Jesusku.

+1

As to the parody comment, I didn't mean that in a bad way. The original is funnystuff (though in DBZ in another way than DB - it's less, it's inbetween, and it's not so prone to being lost in translation), so the "parody" qualities didn't harm DBZ as much as it does other shows. Really, the vast majority of dubs I've seen are at least somewhat cringeworthy, most to all Funimation included, especially of old times.

Edit: thinking it through some I still can't forgive Funimation for what utterly terrible work they did on DB (the original). It's despicable even. No, it really is bad as an over-dub, no stuff about preference.
Ruining Goku's character and all interacting and portrayal of those Toriyama's kind-hearted silly humans and socially secluded heroes (socially awkward in a good, interesting way), that's just too rough on my petty soul. F'cken terrible.

Hmm, most anime I can't really remember for having very distinctive soundtracks tbh... just their opening themes mostly. But I can name some opening themes I like at least:

Genesis of Next
Inner Universe
Bios
Forces (ok this one isn't an intro)
Hiru no Tsuki (ok this is an outro)

And, I suppose it should go without saying...

Gotta Catch 'Em All
RUINED FOREVER.

Cowboy Bebop had the bestest ost of all time!

I have tons of favorites tho. I rag on them but I really do think Toei makes great music that fits all their shows. One Piece, Dragon Ball, DBZ and Sailor Moon all have good osts.

And lol @Filament.

For me, a few of my favorites are:

Toradora

Sankarea
Really everything I've heard from Yukari Hashimoto is great. Esp the Toradora and Sankarea OSTs

Dragonball Z (the Faulconer OST)
I know, a lot of ppl hate it compared to the Japanese tracks, but some like vegeta's SSJ theme and Babidi Casts a Spell are rly great imho

Mirai Nikki
This OST is everywhere. There are epic trakcs, sad tracks, bubbly tracks, psycho thriller tracks, and they all sound like they could be from completely different shows. The diversity is the most I've ever seen in a show's soundtrack. And it's all great.  I wanna watch animes that Tatsuya Katou scored just to hear what else he's done.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
So many amazing tracks.

Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Just listen and learn.

Anyone know the name of the ost in episode 11 of Samurai Champloo where Jin was walking in the rain while the woman he liked was being banged by a fat guy?

I've been rewatching the original Fullmetal Alchemist series recently. I'm enjoying it and fans of the manga can't stop me.

Not really my favorite, but Highschool of the Dead has some awesome songs in it. I always liked that screeching sound the guitar makes in the OP.

Ghost mentioned Toradora and TTGL. I love their OSTs to death.

What's wrong with the original series?

Nothing much, it just ended with them going to the real world.

It's just his hair. But I can't deny that robot arms are kewl. And full robots are even cooler. And this show has both, so I'll have to check it out.

I found the whole “dead from our world were used to fuel alchemy in theirs" to be just as soul crushing if not worse.
