DBZ is odd in the sense that I preferred the filler over any story arc, Piccolo and Vegeta learning to drive still has to be one of my favorite episodes in the series. Shame I can't watch the series anymore, I've watched it too much in my youth and I can't bother watching men having shouting matches for five episodes long before anything significant occurs.
Try watching the original then. None of that there (or at least it's in no way DBZ-style).
I do guess you've not watched DB, and subbed?

It was Goku and Piccolo, and yeah that is the best filler episode.Dave of Canada wrote...

Kai makes those "shouting matches" much faster. The first arc(the one with Vegeta and Nappa) is done by episode 16. So watch Kai.

Alex Louis was never a general, so only stupid people(or people who have never seen it) would think you meant him when you said " General Armstrong", just saying.
Must have glanced over the general part...hardly makes me stupid.
But Alex >>>>> Olivier
The only reason he loses is because a man doesn't hit a woman.
Spaking of which, long-running series often end up completely changing in their atmosphere.
Take Dragonball for example - it started as a tale of a kid with a tail traveling around the world looking for dragoonballs and having silly misadventures. It was a light-hearted kids show.
then it turned into lots of yelling and dramatic battles that lat forever and everything was determening hte fate of hte universe.
Superman too. He started off as a comic for kids and it showed in his powers and the silly plots.

Dragon Ball is silly, but in a completely original and heartfelt way. It almost has depth from all the love Toriyama seems to put into it and from the love he has for more important characters and happenings.
@Soronnar Not that you will believe me, but you do know Dragon Ball up to DBZ was always silly right?
I mean everything, the character names, the characters themselves, all of it. I mean sure it had a little bit of seriousness(started with King Piccolo) here and there but it was mostly just a gag series for kids. The awful pacing(you know the yelling and long fights) was all just Toei's fault.

No idea.
...Alright, I do know who they are, but vague memories at best.
Bulma just got some screentime because she married Vegeta.

So watch Kai.
Kai should die in a fire for its new intro. Which lets face it sucks. Also some of the VA's are horrible, and some key filler eps or plot points are taken out.
Mind you DBZ was too far drawn out...like one piece trololol.
I wish DBZ Abridged would get a TV slot in terms of a shorten kai style show.
DBZA>DBZ>Kai.
Edit incoming to the charater question
Both are from the Dragon Ball Saga, Tao was a merc worked for the red ribbon Army, cowardly fighter, got beat down by Goku. Comes back in DBZ as a "general" and body guard during the Cell Games. Think of him more as a camo apperance then than as anything really important.
The wiki does a nice job for Launch
Launch (ランチ, Ranchi; lit. "Lunch") is a woman with a strange disorder which causes her to switch between two different personalities each time she sneezes. Her first personality is a sweet, blue haired woman, who is pure-hearted. Her other personality is an angry, trigger-happy, blonde woman, who commits crimes for fun and is quick to respond with gunfire when angered. Neither of Launch's personalities remembers the other's actions, or anything they said.
Basically, sweet maid, sneezes pulls out all sorts of guns and shoots at you. So a threat Early on. Camo by the time of DBZ. Both are there for the older fans pretty much.

And it was a joke when I was asking who Tao and Lunch were. Because Toriyama actually forgot about them.

Monster is one of the best Thriller/Mystery animes I've seen. It's so good I got my grandma into anime with it.

I've made a quick list of things I've watched over the years and things I'm intending to watch (out of nostlagia or sheer boredom), any recommendations?
The number one show I would recommend is the Read or Die OVA and the TV series.
Here's my list http://myanimelist.n...ist/soultaker65 all the 8s, 9s, and 10s of my recommendations.
Edit: Has anyone watched Descendants of Darkness? I was thinking of watching it. Is it any good?

Who the hell give 10's? or 1 for that matter?
That's a totally unrealistic scores...and according to you list, every anime is billiant.
Methinks your criteria are a bit too lax.

I've watched it, it was much more "fun" of a series imo.

Damn, thought it was Vegeta. Probably confused because I thought the scenes in GT where Vegeta (and his stache) drive around were a reference to it.
