Oh Aizen.
Oh Aizen.
He'll probably have his time in the new movie from what I've seen.
And what was set up in Battle of Gods.
I still need to get around to watching that movie.
So many things to watch
.
We can debate about FSN because the Fate route really wasn't that great but when it comes to VN adaptations in general I have to disagree.
I get your example from LOTR but I haven't actually seen a lot of anime succeed at doing what LOTR did.
I disagree that VN readers should experience something as if they are watching it for the first time. People who have read the VN can see what the anime does right and it does wrong.
I've recently watched an anime VN adaptation where they turned a bad ending in a good ending.
The same goes for manga or LN's that get anime adaptations. I myself haven't watched Akame Ga Kill but I was here in this thread when I saw people complaining about the anime and how the manga is a lot better.
Girasai's Makina path right? That was dumb.

Spoiler
Yup. That's the one I'm talking about.
You know...I am in such a bad mood right now, that I'm sincerely tempted to roast you. But I'm just gonna bow out of the thread for a few hours. Peace.

Just as an example; I've recently watched an anime VN adaptation where they turned a bad ending in a good ending even thought there were good reasons for that bad ending to be a bad ending in the VN.

Someone needs cheering up.
And nobody recommends reading Yotsubato!

So what you are saying is you want to start Bleach?
Sorry. I'm kinda like
I don't give a sh*t about people's feelings.
Come on, please don't be like that.
He's having a really bad day and we've no idea what all Rex has gone through. Let's not make it worse for him, this thread should be a fun escape from reality.
Sorry House, but I have to disagree.
I mean, Seen is faaaar from good but really when it comes as a standalone anime, F/SN does more good than bad. I can understand that it is hard to take it seriously, (VN reader bias and all that) and why I bare no love for the Seen, I would rather watch it then ever read the Fate route. I mean, Caster is just terrible, but at least she is a character in the anime. And Sensei doesn't even make a frikkin appearance in the Fate route!
Archer and Berserk is not fair though, I mean how are anime viewers supposed to know stuff about their abilities? Sure, the anime doesn't do them justice, but one can't really judge a show with the VN at the side if you ask me.
It is fair tho. DEEN had Archer use UBW, yet he does worse then he did in the VN, where he did not use UBW. I've seen many anime only watchers say Archer is weak because of that screw up DEEN did. The Fate route was and always will be the info dumping route. it's why hardly anything truly big happens there. It's why when you compare it to UBW and HF there's a massive difference in quality from characters, fights, the massive decline of info dumping, real character development ect. Again half the stuff with Caster in DEENs was just taking stuff from the other routes or using existing content, it was not new content. Had DEEN created truly new content like Ufotable did, then maybe I would not be harsh but just taking crap from other routes and Hollow and trying to act like you're giving "deph" or any other nonsense.
Fate route is simply not enjoyable, it is there just to give you all info so UBW and HF are not bogged down, that's simply a fact(and something that works fine in a VN with routes) That is why Ufotable clearly decided to just do UBW and HF, they know doing Fate route is just a waste of time and DEENs bastardization that has given non-readers the wrong impression of the title did not help either.

Not really, just not engage in the circle jerk about how my favorite show > Bleach as if I actually know and am not just going with the popular opinion
Oh right.
Yeah I agree.
Tho you should still start Bleach anyway.
So we can anti-gush about it.
Personally I'm a little uncomfortable crapping on a series I haven't watched at all, like Bleach even if I'm assured by everyone that it's bad. Like when sim casually dismisses SAO, even if it really is crap, I don't want to become that terrible of a human being to do that.
But if I watched a few episodes I'm a bit more comfortable at least, the onus is on the show after all to grab me in that time. Maybe if there are hundreds I'd have to stick with it longer first.
I always found Bleach to have an interesting premise, but it ends up prolonging arcs with loads of boring filler, has Ichigo become this all powerful Mary-Sue who can overcome anything instead of him having to rely on his friends for support and help and the villains always end up rambling about how their powers/abilities work which lets Ichigo know how to defeat them. It lost steam after he first visits the Soul Society, I really feel like they should have wrapped things up soon after that (I remember completing 189 episodes, so I feel well versed enough to have this opinion on the show)

I liked Ichigo more when he was a Hanamichi/Yusuke clone.
I have said this before.
I will also say this again.
Why doesn't Ichigo care that he never had free will???????
Also
YuYu>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bleach.
Slam Dunk>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bleach.

Yeah. I stopped watching it right after they first came back from the soul society. It was descending through "meh" territory real fast. Never bothered with the manga either. One of the only shows where I watched more than 4 episodes and decided to drop it before it ended.
Hell, I still haven't dropped Naruto Shippuuden. Though at this point its more of a habit than out of any real interest.
Pretty much this. It's a bit annoying how useless most of the characters become after they are introduced. It's always up to Ichigo to do everything.
That and
Yes well I don't think it is a fair assessment that way.
I get the frustration when something doesn't do justice as an adaptation, but that doesn't mean that it is automatically bad.
What I meant by the LOTR example is that people don't complain because the movies are great that can stand on their own.
1. Let's make an example: Fans usually get angry when an adaptation does something different. But if what it does differently is good and makes the adaptation better, people generally don't complain that much. But if it is bad, people complain a lot.
2. That VN you said that changed a bad ending to a happy one; did it work in form of the narrative? Did it give it an able conclusion? Because if the complaint is that "it is different = bad" then I can't agree with that. But if the ending doesn't make sense then I agree. But it depend on the anime alone, and not how the VN did it.
1. I personally wouldn't have a problem with an anime adaptation if it did something different but better. Even though I only watched some episodes from Shuffle and only a few routes from the VN a lot of people (including myself) agree that the anime did improve on some stuff and it also changed a certain character in a way that gave her more depth.
2. The bad ending in question is out of character. Like I said I don't have a problem with changing things but don't change things that conflict with your main character especially if you make it a very important point in the VN that the MC shouldn't make that choice.
Bleach did one truly good thing no other series did.
It gave me Freeza singing this.
I have said this before too.
Yeah I got nothing new.
Just like Bleach.
What exactly is Death Parade?
