Gokus not the best at estimating the amount of energy needed to kill the opponent. Which is actually the reason why he doesn't use it often.

 

That and the time it takes to charge it up.

Actually they thought Dende had been killed by Buu too.

 

So that means no Dragonballs.

And they'd have to fly to New Namek (Which only Goku and Dende know where it is, both would be dead at this point) to use their Dragonballs.

Still the buu arc is where DBZ comes closest at acknowledging absurdities like this in the setting with all the antics surrounding buu and everyone else (candy Vegito etc). Treating it like a serious drama is missing the point if you ask me.

I'm sorry. But when Buu murders 100 million people offscreen, I can't help take it seriously.

Buu is a pink gum monster, but he's still a dangerous Eldrich Abomination. The only reason the Buu saga lasts so long is because Gotenks and Mystic Gohan don't take him down when they have the chance. But unlike, say, the Cell Games, the characters don't feel the full weight of their consequences for ****** around.

 

It's padding is what it is. Ultimately what annoys me the most about DBZ is the padding, and it's at its worst in this saga.

 

Characters need to act with some degree of logic regardless of the ridiculous setting.
