I'm speaking out of memory, saw the show more than a year ago, but still, I recall that the culmination wasn't emotionally engaging, though it seemed to try real hard.

Although I do agree with you on the inconclusiveness. That's part of the "believability" to me. Though I guess I'm putting too much meaning into that word.

I actually watched/listened to this whole thing once while spending a night writing. I felt like I had accomplished something. Then I watched the show and loved it even more.

That siad, I do have the feelign the anime makes her look a bit too young. That's a rather common problem in many anime, as they tend to screw up the proportions of the head.

Tamako Market is about a girl named Tamako helping out at her family mochi shop in a small town's shopping district.

It is guaranteed that it will be a great anime. The only question is, will I die from exposure to such cuteness?

I'm kind of a novice when it comes to anime, but last year I bought 5 Centimeters per Second (after someone shared this song with me) and I was wondering if anyone can recommend something similar to this anime? I'd really love to explore more of this kind. It was such a beautiful movie.

Not sure what to reccomend. You could probably look at the directors past filmography..he has simialr work.
Other than that...take a look at my anime list...oh, Jin-Roh might be good (Wolf Brigade). I forgot to add it to the list.

Other Makoto Shinkai movies and Jin-Roh as previously suggested, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time maybe, Haibane Renmei maybe, Honey and Clover maybe, Millenium Actress maybe (all Satoshi Kon are fantastic, many not very similar though), Planetes maybe, Clannad not so much but maybe.

Honestly, I liked that movie much more than 5 Centimeters per Second.

"More loli". Yeah, that was my initial reaction too. Though if you take a closer look, there still are quite a few that deserve a look. The JC, IG, Sunrise, Bones aand... yes, Gainax and Kyoto ones are all worth a look into (+ Despera, Akira, Vamp!)...

Oh, also, I don't hate you. But mostly I just don't understand what you claim for "actual standards". Christianity? What kind? Why?
