6 episodes into Rainbow (: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin) and it's still pretty fantastic and awful. Surprisingly hopeful and heroic type stuff, despite the Green Mile levels of bullshit going on here, and despite their horrible backstories. Example, this one kid's family died from one of the nukes, which he survived because he had run away (apparently
really far) from his alcoholic father's beatings. But he didn't bring his little sister along like he usually would when his dad would just beat their mom instead. Fun stuff like that. Also, rape everywhere.
Actually the opening song does a pretty good job of illustrating that strange contrast, being a screamo metal song that's essentially about friendship, lol.

Also, this guy. There are seven main dudes but he is the dudest dude. I also like the art style you can see here-- it switches to this style when the narrator speaks, which I think gives a pretty cool atmosphere/aesthetic.
