Finished reading Berserk. Yup, it is awesome. Was conflicted about it from time to time, but by the end I loved it. Time to jump on the "wait train" as well.
Hmm, not sure what to read next. Planned on One Punch Man, but it is getting an anime adaptation so gonna wait for that. Gonna have to check a list of potential manga to read.

I never actually played the Pokemon TCG but I at least had a bunch of cards. Mostly Ninetales and Oddish to be exact. X3 I did play a whole lot of Magic back in middle and high school though. Going to show my age here but I remember so fondly my little Magic group all losing our minds over the prospect of acquiring a Black Lotus card. Most of my decks were either pure black, black and green or black and white. Man... sometimes I really miss playing it but I'm so out of touch with modern decks that it'd be learning it from scratch pretty much.

 

There we go, that's my semi on topic rant of the day.

And yeah it's the same with me and Yugioh.

 

Last time I played was half a year ago.

 

The game has once again changed a lot in just a short time.

@Geth: I do sometimes ponder looking into any of the video game forms of Magic to get me back into it, but then I remember that I played Hearthstone for a while last year and really only enjoyed it when I was either waking up or sleep deprived. Suppose that's not horrible though since one of my friends pretty much told me the game is basically buy to win at this point and I just don't have the patience for that. @_@ Buuut for Magic's sake I might still look into it, just to see if the love I had for it is still kicking around my head somewhere.

Okay, first an apology to bro here because it seems even I was seduced by Ryo's idea of an economic super power.

 

The main example I took from was Asimov's Foundation series, a science fiction about society and politics. Long story short the Foundation becomes a super-power with a military strength to terrifying that they could wipe out fleets of thousands with just ten ships. However, the Foundation never pursued conflict and allowed independent planets to go free until they chose to be absorbed due to their isolation and/or benefits (since joining the Federation meant plenty of benefits.) Essentially their Empire was born through trade and not through warfare, even though it began like that.

 

This, of course, was a mistake on my part. It's shameful given that I like to think I know about sociology as well as a little bit on how politics work. The fact that this is BC China and not a modern/post-modern world is one thing, but including the cultural and historical context too it was naive of me to think it had a chance of working.

 

If so, then Cao Cao would had done it ages ago and let's not forget about Ryo being so ambitious and power hungry that it'll ultimately lead to a collapse. It'd be slightly different if Ryo was simply a pragmatic man, but he's far too flawed a person to pull it off.

 

Even when cutting of Ryo from the equation it would still require the consent of the other nations which would not happen. Maybe one greedy sonofabitch might have sold his country out but that situation would have quickly deteriorated.

 

So though his reasons are sound the current world is in no condition for it to work.

Video games and free players are much better than trying to keep up with these games with cash.

I use to play Pokemon, did fairly well too. Still have all my cards and badges. Ah that brings back childhood memories.
