Today I learned that the writer and artist of WataMote goes by a shared pen name, Tanigawa Nico. They also just held their first signing event (that is known of because their identities are unknown) and wore masks to the event.

 

Masks that looked like cats (I had a picture, but BSN doesn't like the extension for some stupid reason).

 

 

 

 

I just found it odd and interesting, maybe the writer's experiences are the source material for Tomoko? They both seemed pretty shy from what I have read, so maybe... 

 

The main takeaway from all of this that makes me happy is that the writer stated that he/she plans for WataMote to at least cover graduation.

I'd guess it comes down to it likely being easier just to change their genetic material than discover a way for them to also suffer under the drawbacks of the power without the actual power themself
