Still very excited to eventually hear your thoughts on Monster when the time comes, Sim.
I've been tossing around the idea of lining up the differences between manga and anime once the time comes and I've digested both.
I'm still nowhere near done the manga by the way. I needed a break so I've only read one chapter in the last few days. It seems the older I get, the less I can binge.
That being said, I like the fact that I still can't really predict end game at this point. There's a lot of little one shot moments that don't directly deal with the main plot that I do hope the anime still covers cause I felt they were a very nice touch.
I'm betting I'll finish Monster before you finish the manga 
Watch them all baka.
A cat is just fine too.
Anyway, 20/26 episodes of Rainbow, and yeah it's a pretty great period drama. It could mess up in the last few episodes but I don't expect it to.
Worst I can say is that so much hot blooded guitar riffing manliness might be too cheesy for some people.
In that vein, this feels appropriate-

Also at last have compiled all the anime I watched and completed my list on Hummingbird(along with everything updated), will do manga later. Dam that was long and I can't beleive some of the crap I watched when I was young looking back....
Anyways, Rah is giving me some suggestions, so so if anyone has good suggestions just let me know.
I heard Cross Ange is really good.
In these sorts of very episodic shows (Mushishi, Kino's Journey, Vampire Princess Miyu ...) the protagonist is mostly used as a mechanic to bind the various stories together and to serve as a proxy for the audience. The focus isn't so much on the main character, favoring instead the various mini stories that happen during their travels and the other people affected by them. This is even truer when it comes to Kino's Journey, where the main character is often only a witness and rarely interferes.
By eschewing development for the main character, the stories contained in each episode are able to take the forefront of the show and the messages and reflections they contain can have a more direct impact on the viewer without being distorted by the needs of an overarching narrative bound to a group of recurring characters. At least that's how I feel.
Hopefully I made that comprehensible. English isn't my first language. Simple version : these kind of shows aren't really about the main character.
Better than anything I could write.
And though I see where it's coming from, I was hoping for a more Bebop experience in terms of characterisation and development.
He's very likeable and a joy to watch.
So when I say disappointing I only mean it in so far as what I hoped was going to be. Mushsishi is still very #based and Ginko is a Pimp-ko!
