Well I hope he stays for this arc.
Wondering if it's worth watching it animated and dubbed.

Up to the arc you are in and if you skip filler.
The anime is pretty fine.
After that Toei pacing starts to really kick in.
And it only gets worse and worse as you go on.
At this point it makes DBZ look like it was Kai if Kai was better paced.
If I ever watch one piece i'm just gonna skip all the filler. Because **** filler. Speaking of which does HxH have any filler?

Something tells me Geth has beaten that into you more times than I can count.
But yes, OP is awesome. Have to admire a guy who can take a rather conventional plot with generally simplistic themes, and turn it all into an effective, natural and believable journey. Not many series manages to pull if of as well as OP does, which still surprises me.
And I should probably reread OP a third time.
And make a pretty cool world with neat and interesting history to it.

And it really didn't fit to start the big battle arc that ends the first half of the series.

Very true. I have to lift my hat to Oda for having a talent of creating the world so believable, even though the narrative is constructed randomly. I mean, almost each island the crew visits remains cohesive to the story by having elements of internal logic--a distinct feeling of culture and personality to it which makes every arc come to life. This is also strengthened by Oda's consistent style of art and presentation.
Dude is talented, that is for certain.

To the point Toei had to make band to make a super serious song just for the next opening.
Not the best opening either but at least it was somewhat a bit more fitting.

Eh, I started reading One Piece back in 2005-2006 or something. Caught up with it, and then I reread it a second time in summer 2010. DBZ, Naruto, Bleach and One Piece I found were the greatest thing on earth during my early teens.
And then I grew up and knew better. DBZ and OP is still good stuff.

Considering how long it took him to finish Drum Island, I wouldn't be surprised if he completes it after summer 
EDIT: I'm just waiting till he gets to Impel Down Arc and can start worshipping our lord and savior Buggy-sama.
