Going to do a Technolyze simul-watch today on MAL.
The Ravages of Time is so good. Makes Legend of the Galactic Heroes look like Code Geass.

 

It's the adaptation on Three Kingdoms, no?

So far he's given about the same speech about how weak everyone is, and how they should all die, and how compassion is something to laugh at, like 5, 6 times now in a row.

He's better in the Golden Arc, but my enjoyment is limited by knowing what he turns into.

Hoping Nightmare goes Night Terror and stomps him in the next Deathbattle tbh.

Is Rin's butt seriously so important to you two?

Zekka, do elaborate further on Ravages of Time. I'm curious to know what makes it overshadow LOGH to such a capacity.

The comparison is a little bit of a joke since people say that code geass is checkers in comparison to legend of the Galactic Heroes which is chess.

I've only read 50 chapters of the Ravages of time so far but I find that the manga was more convoluted than what I've watched of legends of the Galactic.

The strategies of War used by the characters in the story are less predictable and have more layers to it than the ones used by legend of the Galactic Heroes characters.

The Three Kingdoms era is indeed politics and intrigue condensed into a single period.

So if the mangaka (don't know the name for Chinese comic artists) adapts it just as well as TK2010 I have no doubt it'd surpass LOTGH.

But this is Zekka after all.

You can find more tact in a rabid Tyrannosaurs wearing a bright pink shirt saying "HERE I F*CKING COME."

Guts wasn't to my liking at the start either due to the same reasons mentioned but he managed with me grow out of that stage and while I do not confess my undying love to him I do consider him to be more interesting now

Also I completely agree with "While I can understand how some people might find Haruhi to be annoying, I actually found her to be likable because of her tendency to not settle for things."  I absolutely adore Haruhi for so many reasons and this one one of them, she do not accept "the usual" and that make her so very proactive and that alone will cause so many awesome things to happen.

 

 

Araragi is one really awesome protagonist.

In regards to Haruhi, I found myself asking

would it be so bad if she discovered her ability? I mean obviously she would likely make changes to the world, but I doubt she'd intentionally wipe it all away to remake it. She always makes things fun for her friends, so surely what ever sort of new world she''d cook up would be a more fun filled one, yeah? I'll grant that there was a good couple of times that she deserved a good spanking (and Kyon almost smacked her one of those times), so she does have a temper, but even so I couldn't see her intentionally worsening the quality of the world. She'll probably find out eventually, assuming she isn't immortal, Kyon and friends are going to have to keep up the charade for  60-70+ more years. Honestly, I think the best course of action would be for Kyon to get her alone and explain things to her. Though I suppose waiting until she's a bit older (under the assumption that she'll temper with age) might be a good move, unless she finds out on her own of course.

I've thought something along those lines aswell and there are great benefits and dangers from informing Haruhi of what she may be. We've seen that she cares very deeply about the people around her even if she at times might be awful at showing it but that's just human. The other side is that she has also shown that she got no issues doing unethical things to achieve the desired results and if she's aware of her possible situation then.. there are dire consequences if she don't understand just how powerful the ability she may have is. Obviously we don't exactly know what person she will mature into and perhaps a Haruhi at age 30 is a better candidate to be told that she may have that power. Haruhi might to an extent already be aware of the power but not actually care since things work out the way she want one way or another so it's a bit tricky to tell what would happen if she suddenly took more of an interest in that.
