I think it works with what has already been established in the Nasuverse, and Merlin fits right in, considering how bombastic everyone else looks in the Fateverse.

I don't see any issues with Hollow, F/A, Strange Fake, Extra and CCC(and that's just the Fate side of things). Just ignore Garden of Avalon like almost everyone who does not worship Saber is doing.

While I'm not in any more favour of Saber continuously getting attention, but calling it BS just because of that is rather premature.
