Whether she older, a dude or anything.
It doesn't matter.
What should matter is that she's a brilliant character and does a lot to further improve the narrative with her relationship and interactions with Gatts.
You're focusing on the entirely wrong thing here. Miura doesn't care about her magic or how good she is and nobody else does too.
The fact that she's a gifted mage is there as a device, that's all. Or are you seriously questioning the credibility of her talent when Gatts is around doing things that are beyond human capabilities?
It's the same with your constant b*tching about gender bending in the Fate series. Did Nasu make them female to get more male attention? You're probably 100% correct on that one.
But does it matter?
No.
You can pull the 'unfaithful to mythology' card but that's not what Fate is about. The fact that Saber is a chick and not a dude has absolutely no impact on the writing whatsoever. She's a great character with a past made even more tragic seeing as she's female. Yes, Nasu included that fact, nobody simply forgot that she was a girl.
The entire point is that you focus on completely the wrong things. There's no point to why they make these decisions and it's okay as long as it fits.
LOTGH can't have hyper-intelligent/whatever little kids because LOTGH isn't that kind of anime and doesn't want to be that kind of anime. It would be completely out of place.
It's the same with everything. It's fine as long as it fits.
It's why Gintama can get away with Gintoki breaking swords with his teeth and why One Piece can get away with random power ups. In fact, it'd be completely out of place for both of those to shift their tone to something else. I'd be the one complaining if Gintama suddenly became LOTGH or if One Piece characters didn't want to go on adventures.
