EA vs Activision ultimate NP battle.
I agree on Kiri entirely. He held a rather...idealistic goal of peace and goodness for the world that I could tell was doomed from the very beginning.there are reasons why Kiris handling of it and his outright belief in the grail was childish.

As long as Archer keeps throwing blades and attacking him in melee combat, he will continue to break Gils composure and make it imposable for him to use Ea. The only way for Gil to win against Archer is he must get extremely serious and start using his low stocked items like ships, nukes and other stuff that Archer would avoid but doing so would give Gil enough time to use Ea and do a 5 second charge to destroy UBW.
Well if anyone here wants to watch it just think of it as a longer and uuhhh... more complex? Version of LOTGH.
But in China.
With Cao Cao.
Who is God.
Then there will be 3 gods!
So, Ea would indeed break UBW just as it did Ionian Hetairoi then?As long as Archer keeps throwing blades and attacking him in melee combat, he will continue to break Gils composure and make it imposable for him to use Ea. It's not impossible for Shirou to make the same mistakes as Kiri.
See 'Mind Of Steel'.
Personally, I found that Shirou handles his ideal far more mature and better in UBW and HF then Kiri ever did. Now me and sim have talked about this before and we both came to the conclusion that the big reason why Kiri is so desperate for the grail is because there is nothing else he can do. It's not like Shirou who is still on the verge of committing to his path and because of the fire is very suspicious of dubious things like the grail. Kiri had no only committed to hos path, he had already sacrificed so many people close to him for his ideal, this was hwy after Zero when it all blew up in his face he had no clue what to do. He was simply a souless husk(which is why Kotomine ignored him) Had Kiri not found Shirou, Kiri would have likely committed suicide as Kiri makes it clear losing Illya was a big hit but thanks to having Shirou, he was able to make a new life(even if short due to the curse)
Now wqhen HF and UBW Shirous DO come to a point where they must choose to save a person they love or save the nameless, they both make a different choice. HF Shirou is a much different an9imal. He has more initiative, pragmatic, cold, selfish, he's willing to do whatever he must to end the war, he lets Saber to what she wants ect. It's a very big difference because of something Shirou learns on the 4th day. This is why both handle their ideals and challenge it on a different degree. I'm still on the boat that Shirou did handle it better but there are reasons why Kiris handling of it and his outright belief in the grail was childish.
Well said, though I disagree on calling his ideals childish.
I'm no a fan of utilitarian ethics, considering it is such a slippery slope of an ideal, though when it relates to Kiritsugu there is a strong motive behind it (as you brought up) and when faced with the possibility of an--what he was led to believe--omnipotent device that exists already in a world such as the Fateverse, being determined to get it isn't childish.
If however the Grail wasn't actually real, or its purpose was already clear right from the beginning, then I could consider it childish, though not in the way it is presented in Zero. Blind fate perhaps, but not silliness.
So, Ea would indeed break UBW just as it did Ionian Hetairoi then?
Yup, but because of the size of UBW(it's small that allows Archer to close in if he must) and that he can get a sword or throw them faster then Gil makes up for it up.
Please don't turn into another House.
Liam is too adorable and innocent to turn into House
*snip*
Oh definitely, that they certainly are.
Ironically, I'd consider Kiritsugu to be more sexually immature and repressed than Shirou, haha!
Indeed. I believe Rah, Isi and I are the only ones who are blind about upcoming events.
Indeed, as for the moment I'm mostly blind about what await in what remains of UBW

I will admit I am a bit bias because I read SN first and many characters where extremely suspicious of the grail and had a feeling something was wrong where in Zero everyone but their dog and Gil has a hard on for it and no one shows any concern they are being used.
I will assemble an army of Yanderes.
They will be piloting Gundams, Armored Cores and Orbital Frames.
I will take over the world.
