you know, I did start reading the manga about it at one time. Admittedly, got really bored about all the cooking talk in it. Bet the anime would go more smoothly over for me.

Ah, in truth the ecchi is just the part that makes it hilarious and also the most fun to talk about (well, all the foodgasm scenes, which range from ecchi early on to more silly later), but it does have more going for it that might not be to everyone's tastes (ufu). It is a cooking manga after all. So yeah, painstakingly detailed food descriptions. Apparently pretty legit ones and with side chapters that give the recipes too. I like that attention to detail. One of the contributors for the manga is in fact a professional chef.
