Eh, there are some gems on American tv. Not always the ones (like Lost, ick) that people rave over. American cartoons are almost universally crap - especially lately, there's been a trend away from painstaking traditional animation and toward...well, anything a computer can make cheaper. The guys who made Kappa Mikey and Speed Racer: The Next Generation make me want to gouge out my eyeballs. Or maybe theirs, although that probably wouldn't improve their work any.

Avatar's pretty great, though. Of course, like Transformers or Batman the Animated Series, that was shopped out, the stories were written here and it was animated in Korea.

American or western cartoons are at their best right now.

We have Young Justice, Green Lantern the Animated Series, Adventure Time, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Thundercats, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Dan Vs., Transformers Prime, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and soon we will have The Legend of Korra on.

Even if you don't care much for any of the shows I just said, just know that not one of them was made with half-assed work.

Also Armada and the next two shows that came after were anime, maybe that's why they were bad(as in the Japanese are not that great when it comes to Trasformers).

This is good?

You just lost any credibility. I seen this show before and..... It makes me miss Dexters labratory.

.....Ugh.

Well that was odd, more so since they don't have the rights anymore to any of those shows. But they did keep saying to buy the DVDs so I guess that's why it was okay to have them on.

Boy, DBZ's dub is still as bad as it ever was.

And they had the third Tenchi OVA on. The one that has never even aired on the channel before, It did not even exist till after they took it off the air.

Yes. Adventure Time is amazing. I actually wish it had been on back in the day alongside shows like Dexter's Lab, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and the like. Those shows were awesome, and Adventure Time deserves to be among them because it's also awesome.

And now Toonami is done for good, I guess. Oh well, it was fun to see the start of all anime again with the first episode of Astro Boy.:wizard:

Indeed...the AMV is so damn good.
It's what you can show to people who have no clue of anime or the show and they can still enjoy it.

Yep.
Imo it was pretty boring and generic until the last quarter or so. Definitely interesting after that.

I can see why a person might like Adventure Time. Absurdist humor's not really my thing, though.

Ed, Edd n Eddy I can't see - can't wrap my head around liking any of the characters, don't like the art, and Eddy's voice actor is like nails on a chalkboard.

hahaha. Not bashing either series, but they were airing the last episode of Outlaw Star and it was reminding me of the ending of Mass Effect 3. Kinda normal Sci Fi fantasy going all "WTF!?" at the end

I don't know why they don't just bring Toonami back in full swing. Toonami was one of the best things about Cartoon Network back in the day.

Especially TOM 3.0. TOM 2.0 was pretty badass as well.

Steve Blum was great voicing TOM.

Because Cartoon Network make very little off anime nowadays. They make more money off the shows they make.

That and Cartoon Network is stupid as sh!t.=]

Yea, CN is incredibly stupid.

On a related note: It's a shame Teen Titans ended. I've seen a few sources say it's coming back -- the most notable one being Greg Cipes, A.K.A Beastboy -- but I'm pretty sure it won't be.

It would kind of be odd since Young Justice is more or less a new "Teen Titans".

There are some rumors that if the DC Nation New Teen Titans shorts do good they may make the show again. BUT! that will never happen and if did the show will most likely have the same chibi art style that the shorts have.

And you could kiss Young Justice goodbye if they did bring it back.

I loved Teen Titans. Really did. They were among the first DC cartoon DVDs I bought. However, I have little interest in seeing it return. By the last season the show had already more or less run its course. While I enjoyed season five's plot with the Brain and all those newly introduced characters, it was no where near as memorable as the Trigon arc that immediately preceded it. I suppose they could have brought Deathstroke back as the Titans' primary antagonist, but I doubt season six would have been anything special.

Also, Young Justice rocks and I would hate to see it go. Best DCU show since Justice League, hands down.

Aagh, I watched the first episode of Zetman anime adaptation, and as a reader of the on-going 150+ chapter manga, it was pretty disappointing

Okay, the visuals resemble the manga and thus are extremely good, but they crammed 12 manga chapters plus some additional characters and exposition into a single 24-minute episode. Some events were entirely different. The 2 main heroes were supposed to meet as teenagers during an apartment fire, but in this version they're childhood buddies for no adequate reason

Plus, they censored a lot of the gore, which is probably going to hurt in the long run, the original manga is on par with Elfen Lied on the dismemberment count (and leading Elfen Lied in the rape count by a mile)

^^ I watched it yesterday, and didn't otherwise know about it. It seemed awesome. Until I read the manga - which is, as you said, much much better.

The thing is, season four was going to be the end but thanks to ratings it got one more season. That's why the Trigon arc was so good and season five feels more like a bonus season(same with the movie).

And season five had the best ratings of all of Teen Titans, they were so high even at the time it made little sense to can it. But we all know CN is stupid.=]

Oh and more like Young Justice is the best DCU show since Batman: The Brave and the Bold, even if they were both on at the same time once. Batman:TBATB was more or less over at that point.:innocent:

I wasn't into Batman: TBATB. Not that I need Batman to be all dark and brooding. It was just too light-hearted for me to get into. I need at least BTAS level grittiness; which honestly isn't that bad, to get into it.

As for Teen Titans, yeah I remember that. I was obsessed with the show back then. According to a comment Wil Wheaton made in a podcast shortly after Teen Titan's cancellation, Cartoon Network had new management that decided to axe the show despite its high ratings and impressive toy sales. Usually when toys based on a cartoon sell, it gets an extension; but nooo...

Shame really.

You want Batman: TBATB to be just as gritty as BTAS? Well here  it also helps that Paul Dini was the writer for that but he also did some more episodes(and all of them are great).

The show was at it's core light-hearted, sure but it was also trying to get into every level of Batman there is. From beng the Dark Kngiht to being a teacher to other heroes to being a master detective. You can tell the guys who made the show were mega fanboys of Batman(and DC comics) and knew what they were doing.

But again for being so light-hearted it did go to some dark places...
  =]

And as I have said before any cartoon that has Neil Patrick Harris sing is great.

Anyways to get back on-topic somewhat, Batman:TBATB had a great joke on the really old anime dubs with this Bat-Manga  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-6kFqEH2Jg&feature=related (part 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUzuHrWwboU&feature=relmfu (part 2).

Joker has got nothing on Lord Death Man.;)

I'm only two episodes into Gunslinger Girls (english dub) but I'm loving the action so far. One of my favorite VA's is voicing Henrietta which is pretty awesome.

I stumbled on an interesting find - a more historical/realistic/drama kind of anime - Showa Monogatari.

Haven't had a decent unhyped watch in quite a time.

Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei was absolutely amazing. 9+/10.
Such a shame that much of it's brilliance will go way over a lot of people's heads.

Hotarubi no Mori e - 8/10
11eyes - 4/10
Seikon no Qwaser - 3/10
