's leg was a good enough cost. I was actually quite surprised when I found out that was the casualty of the series.  

 

I liked Unicorn at first, but it went steadily downhill. I will admit a lot of my dislike was due to the author's abhorrent political beliefs [i.e the fact that he's an apologist for Imperial Japan] heavily influencing aspects of the story, which was then topped off by excessive newtype stuff at the end.

 

 

It was my first. I also watched Seed and the sequel to it along with one other. I am not going to watch every single thing with Gundam in it to see if it's good or not. I am the type that if I don't like something the first time I try/do it. I'll never touch it again.

 

Fair enough. Had you just seen Wing, I'd've told you to try more. I made the mistake of introducing myself to Gundam with that pile of crap (sure, at times it's amusing (albeit for the wrong reasons), but overall it's not a good show) and it put me off the entire franchise for almost a decade until a friend finally convinced me to go back to the beginning and start with MS Gundam, at which point I realised that, while it's not all good, there's plenty of Gundam out there that can entertain me.

That's fair. It was the most realistic out of the Gundams, it didn't have any of the newtype or coordinater type stuff. It wasn't supernatural in any sense. I thought the ending was fantastic too. I really enjoyed the bond between the 08th MS Team

Overall, yeah, it's good. Drops away somewhat towards the end (in no small part due to Nina - without going into too much of spoiler territory, there's a point where it's clear the writers completely changed their mind about a major aspect of her story, and from then on, she's frustratingly and unbelieveably stupid). There's also a huge amount of background material that isn't actually shown in the anime and without it it can seem somewhat of a mess. But there's much more good than bad in it.

 

0080 (War in the Pocket) is very good too. Very different in scale from typical Gundam series, but probably has the most impactful anti-war message of them all (and not in a stupid "everyone can live happily with total pacifism!" way).

Gundam tends to focus on political views alongside war. Honestly, it's not for everyone. 

 

Anyway, I'm currently watching Mirai Nikki. Needless to say, I think I'll like it. Yuno is cute and the show interests me. I'll give my verdict on it when I'm done.
