i stopped reading Naruto after Jiriya died; at that point, imo, there were many things just getting boring... my friends say the later fight against Pain was epic, but i don't ever see me picking up the mangas.
not to mention Sasuke's fight against Itachi felt like a giant cop-out. "I became an outcast to protect you!" blarg...

i never bothered with Bleach, or One Piece...

Spice & Wolf severely needs a third season... i won't be happy until Holo gets to Yoitz and she and Lawrence figure out what to do from there.

Agreed. And Darker Than Black needs sa third. And Sekaichi no Apollon needs a second. And... there're too many to list really.

In other news, I'm finding Brigadoon to be an awesome somewhat-oldie and finally getting to end-game of Dragon Ball Z. Boo arc is the way Dragon Ball Z *should* be. If this quality would have been consistent throughout the series, I'd rate it two marks higher and a nine.

Anything with Ryouhei Kimura as a lead needs more seasons.

And yes, Buu saga is probably the best in DBZ. You'd be shocked by how many fans consider it the worst. In my opinion DBZ got better with every new arc. Except I don't think Frieza can be overlooked and remains one of the best DBZ villains even compared to Buu and the androids.

I'm rewatching my favorite part of Death Note, and you know what? I think I'm going to bump it up from an 8 to a 9 on MAL. I had forgotten about how well written that show is!

Also...for fun

The fans who grew up on the dub are stupid if they think the Boo arc is the worst.

I don't think there was a part of DBZ that I disliked. At least to the the extent that I would call it the "worst". I feel the quality of the arcs and villains stayed about level the whole series.

The Cyborg arc and Cell were bad. Editors getting in the way and stuff, I have went over it before in this thread.

Cell was just a really boring villain. Great design tho.

The Chimera Ant King from HxH is Cell done right.

Unspeakable all powerful god monster created to rule the world that no one can truly fight... but while Toriyama just went "cocky bastard", Togashi explored what that might actually do to his personality and examined his humanity and emotion and feelings for others. Far, FAR better character, puts Cell to utter shame.

(Would have been out of place in Dragonball... but much better character all the same.)

The 'droids carried that arc for me. Android 18 is one of my favorite characters in the series. Cell, well he was okay.

Yeah I like 16 , and 18 ending up with Kuririn was awesome.

Still the arc was long and a mess. Cell was a terrible character and a forgettable villain who looked stupid in his second form, and generic in his final.

Yeah, I really don't know that much about the arc anymore. It's been a real long time since I watched DBZ. All I really remember about it, overall, was that it was Gohan's coming of age arc. It was a pretty decent, albeit long to get to, pay off.

Gohan not being sure of himself was out of character in my view.

The only time he was ever like that was when he fought Nappa. And that was years ago for him.

IIRC though, wasn't that the first time he was the guy everyone was depending on to ultimately get the final victory against the bad guy?

Yeah sort of, Goku being the great dad that he is, stopped fighting Cell and made Gohan fight him.

All because Goku thought Gohan liked fighting just as much as he did. lol

That would've probably made him a little nervous though. His green guy that always saved him was waaaay weaker than the green guy trying to kill him.

But Gohan did fight Recoome (who broke his little neck) and Freeza in the arc before and he was not really nervous about himself in those fights.

True enough, however, the Cell fight was the first one that he won IIRC. He got defeated pretty handaly in the other fights of his. Now he's expected to defeat the strongest opponent he's ever seen? Yikes.

He tried to defeat Recoome and Freeza tho.

Sure he lost, but he never had doubt in himself. It came out of nowhere when he fought Cell. :/
