This is because the VN was faaaaar more subtle. While there was clues, there was alot of good counters too in the VN. So it did make it hard to 100% determine who it was. Ufotable tho is NOT being subtle.

Well the show makes it much more obvious. Not only through dialog, but scenery and character alignment / position as well. I had to chuckle and go "well done Ufotable!" In several scenes.

Yeah I was 99% sure of Archer's identity (even speculated it back in August when I watched F/SN 2006), but it is one thing knowing something and being certain.
