I was more referring to Fate/Zero. I need to watch that before I watch UBW.

Eh, UBW first. It is part mystery, and experiencing what it has to offer is part of the enjoyment when it comes to Fate. Watching Zero has a lot of moments spoiled for you.

You can of course enjoy it with Zero first, but the general consensus here is SN and Zero.

You don't need too, in fact it's not even recommended you  watch Zero before experiencing SN as alot of plot twist and reveals in SN are pretty much spoiled in the first episode of Zero, and more are spoiled later.

Well, I am already at the part where the assassin guy is fighting the teacher, so a lot is already spoiled.

Zero is a prologue, but it's like Star Wars. SN(which could be compared to ep4,5 and 6) came out first where Zero(ep1,2 and 3, just not as crap as SW ep1,2 an 3 XD) came out later.

I'm kinda glad that I watched Zero first, cause it better prepared me for FSN. I would have been pretty lost for the first bit of SN otherwise. I really liked Zero's info dump in the first episode.

Apparently it's DEEN Fate but worse.

 

Its....mixed. For fans of the visual novel, it was reasonably good, as you got to see some of the awesome fights animated. For people who hadn't read the VN, it was a waste of time, as most of the story is reduced to an incomprehensible mess due to time constraints.

House says it spoils a lot. Not sure how much of it spoils myself since I plan on watching it a bit after HF

No the visual novel. Apparently there is a manga adaption not sure how it is though.

There are some good parts in the fate route in the VN, sadly they are spread out too thin and after a good scene you need to deal with BS.
