Yeah, Rock is an accounting nerd. Not a soldier of fortune/pirate, so no he shouldn't be handling any firearms. That would completely ruin the character.

 

It would improve his character and make him actually useful to the team. People like him are hinderances when it comes to squads.

 

What difference does that make? A character doesn't have to be good at killing people to be interesting. Lots of great characters don't kill anyone.

 

I would agree if it wasn't an action based show. For the main character to be a wimp for a gun show, it just doesn't work.

As for Gon, he seems like a standard shonen protagonist at first, but that's setup for some good stuff later. HxH is a deconstruction in a lot of ways, this is one.

He is useful to the team though. They're not mercenaries, they're a delivery service. Revy and Dutch are all the firepower they need. Remember how Rock stopped that nun from the Ripoff Church from ripping Black Lagoon off on a shipment of grenade launchers? That's what Dutch hired him to do, he wouldn't keep him around if he was useless.

Again, that's your opinion. I like Rock they way he is. He's not supposed to be a bad ass, not by any means. I will stick to Black Lagoon.

Under fire though, he is. He can still do that and be a competent fighter.

He usually does a great job of helping out the team under fire just by staying out of Revy's way. That's all they need of him.

He'd just get in Revy's way.

 

Not unless he was trained by them, but I'll leave it at that. Rock is one of the few characters that actually makes me mad enough to where I would want to shoot him in the head. And, I am done.

That's why I was asking. I'm quick to judge and have missed what turned out to be great shows in the past, cuz I misjudged em.
