Great UBW episode! This season has gotten better and better! They truly nailed that Shirou's expression.

Honestly, the worst part of it is the Rin/Shirou teen romance drama.

By now all that tsundere stuff is getting old and is more irritating than endearing.

Tbh i'm not a fan of UBW's romance either but I felt it didn't detract from the route that much. Though that scene with Lancer is still hilarious and is what made me come to like him.

The romance is great, I have no issues with it. Especially since it isn't completely "in your face" approach, wherein the only dialog between the characters revolve around the concept of love or something equally superficial. Their relationship is genuine, and while certain scenes are more there for comedic values, likes with this recent episode, it isn't out of touch from the narrative.

It would be another thing if every scene with them was like this.

Don't really put that much care into the romance in UBW. I've seen a dozen better and I've seen just as many worse. It's a side thing which is why it work so well within the narrative. We are dealing with a grail war and the romance is a part of making the characters... human! The romance is a path to make people care about Rin and Shirou. Sure it's not going to be a thing for everyone as with many other things but as I mentioned in my last post about Fate is that happy, funny moments are just so crucial when super serious events come from every direction.

Let's also not forget that without Rin, Shirou would still be a broken shell who never changes. Suret he VNdid it better as there was alot of sass between Shirou and Rin(that was cut bin the anime) plus Rins dominnate pwersonality was shown alot better imo.

 

Still ok in the anime but at this point, I advised anyone not to expect much from Miura.

 

/not ashamed to admit I like UBW better simply for Archer and the Rin/Shirou relationship

Tbf. My opinion of the Lancer class was pretty low, since pointy sticks aren't particularly impressive.

I've been to the Edmonton one a couple times when I was younger and I remember it had a lot more going on then Calgary did, although I'm not sure how much it's grown since I last went compared to Calgary since we now have over 2x as many people that come compare to even just a few years back.

 

But yeah it's easy to spend lots there.

 

When did you say the Edmonton one was this year? Wondering if I could convince a friend to go to it with me because then I might check it out.
