And so does the main heroine in Strike the blood. (they share the same VA)

Ah, yeah we totally see most things completely differently on this show. He's spot on about the action scenes and the opening and ending tracks but we disagree completely on the writing.

 

Also the dude doesn't adore Chuunibyou. Unacceptable, unforgiveable, just bad!

Haven't watched Jojo yet but I can confirm that Bakemonogatari is a good show that anyone should watch.

I love Monogatari enough for it to be 4th on my list so on the basis of how much I love it I'd say go with it but it kinda depends on what you're feeling for. JoJo is always an awesome option and outside the first kinda weak arc it get really awesome

I have no idea what you consider to be a valid explanation then. A world of magic has very different rules to our own.

 

Let me rephrase that - any explanation can be "valid". That doesn't make it good.

 

Simply put, when a character simply gets things because of plot convenience/armor, wihout any ofh te actual effort required to get it, it is bad regardless of hte explanations.

It could be the power of God

It could be super-extra-deadly training.

It could be observation

It could be stealing anothers knowledge/skill.

 

It's still a short-cut to get something a character shouldn't have.

It's still something that cheapens the effort and dedication necessary to attain something.

It's basically "instant greatness", so common in shonen, where young protagonist have to become the greatest that is in just a few episodes, because "power of youth" and "power of plot".

 

When you have older characters that trained their whole lives with masters, dedicated themselves fully to something, and then they get surpassed by some snot-nosed youth that fought 2-3 tough battles, you are basically spitting in the face of all that dedication and work required, and it's actually a counter-message to the whole "perserverance and effort" thing going on.

Because there's really minimal effort to get there.

How ruuuuuuude! 

 

 

That scene is the most special one you'll find. Mostly you will get excellent storytelling, great characters, some very cool art, amazing OST and some fanservice. Oh and it do comedy!
