His cantus are indeed completely warping everything around him and only get worse so any kind of cat that is near him are absoutely there to deal with him and the killing of the cat itself does nothing beside pushing Shun even further down the path he's forced to walk and that just make EVERYTHING even more warped around him. So really the lose of his pet and that he kill the cat in addition to being able to have a conclusion with Saki allow Shun to finally let it all go and not be forced to delay everything, that's the visual display we get.

I'm not really surprised with the information this episode gave us.

 

I already had a feeling there was some hypnosis/mind manipulation involved when they just forgot about their friend Reiko like it was nothing.

 

Also if there are going to be any more Main characters dying then my bet is that Mamoru will be the first to die.

 

He just screams deathflag but maybe that's just me. Then again I didn't expect Shun to die first.
