Your not missing much, IMO it's a show full of meh. The only reason people talk about it so much is because at the time it did new stuff to the mecha genre, kind of like how everyone talks about madoka magica like it's the best Magical girl show ever.

I'm on episode 4 of Beelzebub, I'm still trying to convince myself there's a reason that they made two seasons of it. Right now, it's the same gag stuck on repeat for 20 minutes. Thuggish guy (can't remember the main character's name because he's so boring and one-dimensional) tries to find guy stronger than him to take the baby. The baby gets upset about something and explode cries. They are now in a different room, the baby gets about something and explode cries. They are now in a different room, the baby gets about something and explode cries.Hilda gives some exposition. They are now walking home, random thugs decide to mess with Thuggish guy, Thuggish guy beats them up, baby explode cries. They get home, baby explode cries.

A running gag gets real old if it occurs 5 times per episode. -_-

so i dunno where u get ur animes from but I know theres a lot of websites there that let u get em while ripping off the creators.

I go to crunchyroll.com because they stream the episodes online for free AND theyre a legit source for anime.
If u want ur toons AND give back to the awesome peoplez who make it, I watch my shows there.

EDIT: No this isnt a spambot. I just thought id pass on the fact that theres a legit streaming site out there.

Pony spambot! Kill it with fire! Speaking of supporting the creators, sometime this year I plan on finally picking up Darker Than Black on DVD. Honestly, I'd love to purchase a lot more things anime AND manga related but I just don't have the income for it.

Beelzebub sucked as an anime.

The manga is much better, Baby Beel does his electrical cry much, much less in the manga too. Because the mangaka knows how to do comedic timing, the show does not.

Maybe Madhouse can make a remake someday, that would be cool.

And @everyone who has never seen Eva, go watch Eva.

Yeah, I usually go through Crunchyroll, Netflix or Hulu. Though, I will use a site like Justdubs if all of those places don't have a show that I want to see.

I've never bought a series because there wasn't one that I just want to watch over and over again.

@ Geth

That seems to be the case with a lot of comedy mangas, they just don't translate that well to the screen.

Crunchyroll is a literal livesaver.

Netflixs' lineup isn't bad either, I discovered HODT, Elfen Lied, and Squid Girl (which i have yet to watch).

Yeah, and Oga, Baby Beel, Furuichi and Hilda had a lot of character in the manga. The show messed them up too.

I only saw about 20 episodes before I gave up on it. Try the manga sometime if you want something good and funny. Cuz it is one of the better gag series out there.

Yeah, like I said the manga is funny as hell.

Beelzebub is at it's best when it makes me laugh, and it mostly does.

This AMV with Dragon Ball's ost was pretty good. Hell it being funny in a Dragon Ball kind of way is why I like the manga.

I haven't contributed to this thread before so my first recommendation is Ano Natsu de Matteru. If you like slice-of-life mixed with some science fiction I definitely think its worth a read.

Hah, just remembered I still have to endorse one of the most mindlessly funny things I have seen related to anime:

DragonBallZ Abridged by Teamfourstar.

The Freezer Saga is downright hilarious. Seriously, once you go Reeee-coooom-muh, you never go back.

So I been reading Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru and I'm really starting to like Sports manga.

Does anybody have any Sports manga recommendation? Also to those read Hajime no Ippo does the story move as slow as it seems? Because from the little I've heard about it, even after 1007 chapters only so much has happened.

You can never go wrong with Ōkiku Furikabutte a.k.a Big Windup. It's a great show.

If you like your shows to have a romance plot, Suzuka isn't a bad choice either.

The thing is I wouldn't really call DBZA mindless. The reason the parody works so well is because they know DBZ inside and out and can mock it with jokes making fun of a letter change in the english dub of Freeza's name, instead of just constipation jokes.

I watched it because Rei Ayanami was my waifu.

The best magic girl show is still Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.

They somehow turned Nappa and Super Kami Guru into the best characters ever.
