For me ecchi has to have one thing that's the reason for it's ecchi and that's to play off it's humor potential.

 

As a fanservice device no I don't care for it.

That's probably why I like Senran Kagura and Neptuna all female casts means no annoying pervy ******.

I think so but to be fair I'm the kind of person that has pretty much become immune to fanservice overall.

Meh, I'm exposed to Fanservice for both genders alot no matter what I watch.

Be it something like Panty and Stocking, or Stephen Amells pecs on Arrow

You get used to it.

As long as it doesn't involve sexual abuse it's more just something I laugh off.

Not entirely. There is a too ****** far point (rapey scenes, abuse, pointless character degradation) and doing it to children is a big no no.

I feel there is way too much fan-service involving kids, There needs to be a boundary. You want to ****** to characters who are adults and/or look like adults, enjoy yourself I guess? But characters that are canonically, chronologically, biologically and mentally underage? That's really, really wrong from my pov and it needs to be weeded out by the fandoms.

Let me mention one show that as a base concept wasn't to bad but it ultimately overused it's fanservice potential and ruined a good chance at being a decent anime.

 

Strike Witches.

 

The concept was decent, and should someone take the tedious amounts of time to cut any unnecessary ass shots of mostly early teen girls, I'd probably be able to watch all 26 episodes and a movie in about the time it takes to watch 20 episodes.

 

That said, there are cases where it uses this in a humorous way, which I do like, however it's so covered in frames of 14 year old posterior that I can't say it's better for it.

 

That said, the anime isn't as awful as I make it sound, but it was certainly a learning lesson for me on how you can mess up a perfectly good thing with fanservice and Mary Sue protagonists.

I remember seeing the first DS game in the store in 2011 or 2012 and I thought to myself: "jeez what kind of perv would play this?"

 

Now I've bought the Vita version when it came out and I really liked it.

 

My point is, Senran Kagura is a good game and doesn't just rely on fanservice but also has a good soundtrack, characters and story. Shame that most people will judge it for its fanservice.

Well, I don't see the problem as long as it's directed at the age group of the cast. To bring up Strike Witches again, it's not directed towards a >20 year old like myself, it's directed at the 14 or 16 year olds.

 

But 12 year olds and younger? Ewwwwww

There's also the cases where a character's age looks different between scenes/games/promotional art/camera angles. That happens a lot too.

Caster if serious could easily blow away Rin (correct me if I'm wrong but I remember Caster actually playing with Rin in their battle) so Lancer would also have to protect Rin. Shirou would only be able to live on borrowed time. Of course the battle could easily be won if Lancer would pull out his NP.

 

Oh it would be an interesting fight to see that's for sure.
