Done with the first season of "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" and it's overally rather good. It do have a slightly weak start due to how the story is told but on the flipside it keep growing stronger as more pieces of the puzzle are revealed to the viewer. Only maybe 2-3 episodes in the middle did come of as quite dull but the last two arcs of the season are both excellent and leave a good impression that encourage me to sooner rather than later pick up the second season. The mystery the show deal with is quite interesting and grow more as the episodes go and the same goes for the characters that at the start are not that remarkable but towards the end of the second season are perceived very differently from the start. All of the main characters add something very valueable to the story and everything would fall apart if one of them went missing and they play very well with each other and that do make their behavior interesting to watch as events unfold. The tone of the show changed over time and that did help it feel a bit more fresh when the story had to touch the same things a few times over.
The show got a good OP and a very good ED. The OST overall is decent but not memorable which is fine when the story and characters are able to hold my focus as well as they manage. The show do got quite a few animation errors which is a shame even if some of them made me laugh more than what some comedy shows manage. So if one want a show that got a good mystery that get more interesting with time then this show might be for you. Or if you want hilarious animation errors.. then it's for you aswell

Might sneak another show inbetween but I will get on the second season soon. Too interesting to leave alone for too long!

Rewatching Fate/Zero I just noticed/realized that Waver (or rather his future self) is part of Rider's Ionian Hetairoi when he summoned it against Assassin.
Dayum that took me way too long.

Interesting take, but personally, I found the soundtrack to be more memorable than the opening and ending credits. Particularly that song that plays in those magical moments when the audience realizes that Keichii has fucked up his life beyond all repair.

Aye, one of the things I love about the Nasuverse. All those little details and references binding all the works together.
Such a shame though that a lot of it is being held tight by Japan, though me actually studying Japanology does at least give me a brighter future in that regard than most others (plus all the other Vns, Light Novels and stuff I will be able to read in a couple years that'll probably never see a translation ...).

As for the story, what did you like about the second to the last arc? I thought the "Eye Opening" arc kinda overdid it with the slaughter myself. I mean sure, Shion and Satoshi's story was tragic, but Shion went so pants on head crazy that it stopped being scary. I preferred the more subtle arcs like "Curse Killing" where Keichii kills Satoko's uncle.
None of the tracks ever stuck with me outside of the OP and ED that I heard every episode, the one you link. I got only the faintest of memories ever hearing it.
About being less scary.. that happened after the first arc with me. The show was barely scary in that first arc and after it I can't say I was even close to being scared for more than half a second. So I ended up appreciating the mystery and the thriller aspects of the show since the horror completely vanished so I got no issue at all with Shion doing what she did, if anything it strengthen the psychological horrors the characters must face which the show really need to nail

This is why I want a F/A adaption. Not only does it take place in Romania, it also focuses on a brand new cast along with more focus on the Mage Association and inner politics.
Or even a Extra+CCC adaption.
