Welcome to the first class of AMVs 101.

I am you're teacher, Clone-Sensei. Former AMV maker.

Responsible for my unfortunately numerous terribad AMVs that thankfully you can't find anymore.

 

Class 1: Basic AMVs.

The idea of an AMV is exactly what it says it is.

Anime Music Video, but what this translates to for most people is just putting some "Edgy" song over an action sequence they like.

Case Study:

As you can see, abrupt transitions, no edits or effects, subtitles and was probably just some guy placing clips onto a Windows Movie Maker timeline.

 

Not to say this style of AMV is particularly bad, but it's just unremarkable, and ultimately won't get you much recognition other than "Yeah, that was ok I guess."

The stereotype of this form of AMV is of course, Linkin Park Z. Which is the worst.

Case Study 2:

This guys work at least follows a central theme and he picks fitting music for his video's premise. Which is all I'm askin for here.

Not to say they're the pinnacle of AMVs.

Genuinly surprised that this episode managed to be this weak considering how well Ufotable generally do things and it's UBW, up until today we've gotten 17 good or better episodes. Just so very unimpressed.. and especially about the visuals..

Archer does not project swords in that world, he simply brings them out of the ground and fires them, it is his world and he can manipulate it freely. Yet in the anime we have a world with hardly any blades there, we have him projecting them and to make matters worse Shirou who made his own rain of swords in the VN pulls the same **** he did in the DEEN adaption.

Thought the whole bit with Rin becoming Sabers master was pretty cool. Finally did the reveal, though I doubt anyone in this thread didn't already know before this anyways so eh. Had House key me in on some of the changes between the anime and VN. I can definitely see where the disappointment comes from.

 

Didn't hate the episodes but I didn't particularly find it amazing either. Interesting enough but not up the the standards and expectations I'd hope for based on what I've seen so far.
