To be fair, a lot of the time it's spot on.

Any ideology must give rise to a counter-ideology.

You got people praising anything with "symbolic" imagery and surreal art styles as incredibly deep.

Most of it IS pretentious BS, and people just read into thing/project.

I agree with this.

Yes, a lot of people are quick to call something deep.

True. You have stuff like MEMEME! which despite how surreal it is has a really simple message which has been handled much better in other works.

Frankly, she looks like an alien to me.

Her character design/art style simply stand out so much compared to others.

Practically every other character has far more realistic facial features/proportions

Yeah I don't know why either... I wanted to watch that show so I watched the trailer, seemed all right, then she shows up and I'm like.. why?

Y'all serious?

I don't totally understand where they were going with her, I just don't get why the main guy is all pure ace detective bomb.com and then it's like of course she has to be this kind of wispy willowy thing that sorta bumbles alongside him, just feels off and samey with other similar things.

Oh nah, I thought both of you were talking about the art style, since you said "Yeah." So it's just Lotion that's high then. Alright.

I thought that was a manga?

A manga made by a Korean manhwa artist who lives in Japan.

So yes.

It is a comic.

Sure, there does exist radical parties on both sides barking up the same tree--stating that it is either a masterpiece or just a big faux, related to whatever concept the show in question is trying to portray.

The issue I personally have is how people like to generalize everything a show does into a dichotomy, which I can understand to an extent in regards if the show is mostly accurate or not in its representation, but sadly most posters I view hardly ever explain why a particular show is good / bad whenever it revolves around its concepts, and few seem to see that rarely does a show get every note right (which should be obvious, but alas). E.g. The Fate series is not as deep as people seem to think of its supposedly "study on idealism", the Monogatari series is primarily unbalanced with its range of ideas that it picks up (from excellent to sh*t) and GitS: SAC; while exceptional in psychological examination and representation of socio-politics, still suffers from few inane and overcomplicated aspects that doesn't add anything relevant to the narrative other than simply being there.

Is it Chewin?

But glad to hear it, Rexy! Hope you did well in your courses.

You're trying to plug holes with your own projections.

It is the duty of a story to properly explain what is going on, not rely on audiences conjecture and  mental gymnastics . It's not the audiences job to explain how X is possible. It's a friggin TV Show. SHOW things.

And you are reaching far here.

Did we see Gil watching? Did we see ANYONE watching? Heck, all the anime had to do is show  a figure in shadows for a split second.

Even if he WAS watching, how would Gil know that the bow was a Broken Phantasm and not just a bow?

And again, where was Gil then? In the Church with Kotomine.

How would Gil know that Archers blades are not just an ability of his NP, rather than a projection? Stranger things have happened - I mean, Servants don't usually return from the dead either.

Blame Ufotable for cutting it, because in the VN Shirou outright tells Rin that he read every single weapon from GoB and this is shown later so yeah I'm not reaching when the characters themselves say it and then show it. It's typical Ufotable cutting important stuff from Shirou which will make the climax make little sense now as the damage is already done (this episode really did alot of damage)

Again, Noble phantasms DO NOT WORK like that. A noble phantasm is gone for good once it breaks. That was why in Zero

Spoiler

Archer used 27 blades in one fight, which where broken after use. That is impossible with Noble Phantasm rules, same with Archer using the SAME broken phantasm in two different fights(which should not be possible as a broken phantasm is a servant putting mana into their NP to make it unstable and then chucking it somewhere to create an explosion. The NP is destroyed in the process). Gil is one of the smartest heroic spirits(arrogant ****** yes, but not an idiot) he can easily tell that Archers "noble phantasms" are simply projections as they are breaking the number one rule of them, even Gil loses access to weapons and such if it's destroyed for the current war. Any weapon that Berserker destroyed in Zero is gone in SN.

Wait, SN was a study on idealism? I never thought it was, if anything I found SN focused more on deconstructing a hero which comes out full force in HF when

It isn't, but a lot of fans think they are, which was what I meant by people singing praises to it.

I do personally think that F/SN--considering how it focuses on an overlapping POV story in regards to Shirou--has more groundwork compared to Zero to explore a lot more in what it brings up, but it is still enjoyable for what it is worth. It is a "battle anime" after all, and that these are present in the first place and handled well enough to complement the overarching story, I don't see a reason to complain.

Firstly, grats Rexy! <3 I do hope you're feeling good now that you've got those exams beat into submission. :3

UBW update:

I'm getting closer to being caught up with where the tv series is. On the evening of day 12 right now and while not huge spoilers, I'll still cover this sort of stuff since I will briefly gush about Robe-chan's identity:

Spoiler

An unspoilered note is that I suppose I take some amusement in the knowledge that as right now, I like both Saber and Shirou a lot more in this route than I did Fate. Neither are truly all that different, I guess it's more a matter that they are both strong in their convictions to their ideals and will stand by them. I'm not sure if Saber's wish will come up at all this time around, so I'm curious how much further Shirou will react if he does, since his mindset regarding 10 years ago is more a focal point in this route I find (or at least the truth of the matter is brought up earlier and more).

Have to agree on you about Saber's portrayal in UBW being on a higher note than in Fate. Saber is after all the embodiment of Shirou's ideals, and they share similarites in more ways than one, which is more nuanced in its portrayal. Fate is far too traditional and straightforward in its approach for my taste. UBW does still leave a lot to be desired however, but at least it exists in some form, rather than having it sidelined completely.

And good to hear you approve of based Rin.

Cause everyone should.
