It isn't, but a lot of fans think they are, which was what I meant by people singing praises to it. 

 

I do personally think that F/SN--considering how it focuses on an overlapping POV story in regards to Shirou--has more groundwork compared to Zero to explore a lot more in what it brings up, but it is still enjoyable for what it is worth. It is a "battle anime" after all, and that these are present in the first place and handled well enough to complement the overarching story, I don't see a reason to complain.

Where the VN really shines is in the interludes too when you see the POV of other characters like Kotomine, Rin, Sakura, Archer, Caster, Lancer ect.

 

I find Ufotable cutting 99% of the POV of other characters to be a big blunder personally.

As someone who still hasn't seen any of the Fates: I find Saber to be the most attractive, but I like Rin the best because of all her facial expressions. You just can't beat this:
